Is anyone else mad about the incentives offered on the webcast

Another note to add, during the presentation they did say please do not go passing along the incentive information to other because it was "ONLY" for people watching the webcast and others could not get it. I think this is exactly what they were afraid of happening. I'm not saying that what they did was right just adding what they said.

I have to agree with this thought. There are events, promotions that we have been offered, or magical moments and stuff like that which we experienced. I haven't mentioned these on the boards because of this situation...."Well they got it, so why can't we" attitude.
I think there are times when we know we got a good thing, and should at times think twice before spreading it on the DIS boards. Yes we may want to share it with others, but there's always an expense to that.... such as those "perks" or special magical moments being done away with.
Just my thought.

However one of the things with DVC over other TS sales it the price is what it is, you don't generally have to worry about someone next to you getting a better deal. Now I know you take a chance if next month the incentive might be a little better. BUT TO have multiple deals going on depending on if you happen to sign up for a webcast or get to Boston or even are on a cruise. I think these are some of the things that gets other TS developers their nasty reputation.

I think if DVC moves in this direction they are going to move people to resale. I feel the guides do have their hands tied and don't know what various deals are coming or going on until it happens.

ok... After looking things over, i guess i can understand and agree on what was just said concerning DVC sales. I guess i was thinking more of events, or magical moments that have occurred while at Disney.

For example, there was one magical moment at Disney that we received that could in reality cost a good sum of money. If i mention it here on the boards, everyone would be trying to get in on it as well (and i wouldn't blame them for it either). But in doing that, they could end the Magical Moments due to the high amount of complaining that could occurr.

I just bought 350 points under the $14 off incentive. I bought the points last month. Now I hear the incentives are better for a few people. What's up with that? Can anyone elighten me as to the former incentives versus the Webinar pricing? Thank you.

Nope. some people got better deals than me and I probably got a better deal than some others. It's the luck of the draw. Recession ends, there maybe no deals at all, who knows? :confused3

So much for public relations and making customers happy. I feel a little less like doing the happy DVC owner dance now. I know promotions happen but giving new members better pricing than older established members is not fair in my book.

The vast majority of the time current members do get preferential treatment. For instance, here are the purchase thresholds for current incentives:

New Members WITH Referral
3-night cruise: 160-199
4-night cruise: 200-269
7-night cruise: 270+

Existing Members
3-night cruise: 100-124
4-night cruise: 125-199
7-night cruise: 200+

The cash discounts also kick-in at lower levels for exisiting:

New Members WITH Referral
1st tier $$$ discount: 160-199
2nd tier $$$ discount: 200+

Existing Members
1st tier $$$ discount: 100-124
2nd tier $$$ discount: 125+

Existing members do not pay any closing costs on new contracts while new buyers do pay closing.

DVC has historically held the line on price increases for existing members longer than it has for new members. When they are set to raise the base price at a certain resort, members are usually given an extra 30-60 days to buy at the old prices which new members pay the higher rate immediately.
