Is anyone else here planning on cheating on Easter Day?

I have to be honest, we are going out to dinner at a very fancy restaurant. I know I can order off the menu and do fine with Atkins, but I want dessert. Then we are meeting up with family after dinner for dessert. Should I cheat then go back to my diet the very next day? I can't be the only one who loves my sweets.
My carbolite bars haven't come in the mail yet, otherwise I would just take one with me, and maybe with that sitting in my pocket I would have a chance. If I do cheat it will take me a couple of days to go back into ketosis. That's what happened when I ate cake at DS Confirmation 3 weeks ago.

Help:D

Didn't you have a pretty nasty sugar hangover after that cake? Just something to think about :teeth:

We aren't going out for Easter, we are going to grill filet mignon and lobster and have my brother and mother over. No cheating planned here.

Fingers crossed that your carbolite bars arrive before Easter.

Lynn,

I think I may be right behind you!! I bought some Carbolite bars but unfortunately............I ate them already!! I did buy my mom some sugar free soft chocolates (she is diabetic and always cheats which is not good for her)......I may have to sneak one!!

I am hoping to get really full at brunch and hoping that there will be some fresh strawberries for me to have for dessert......if not......the chocolate mouse will have my name on it!! LOL!!

It has taken me 3 days to get back into Ketosis after my splurge this past weekend!! (Boy did I splurge). I chalked it up to PMS and then after hearing from Elise about Evening Primrose I ran out and bought it. Hopefully that will help with my cravings..........

Good luck my friend...........I'll be thinking of you..........

We are going to MIL for Dinner and the only thing (almost) legal will be the Ham -- but even that will be basted with sugar! She will likely have corn, lima beans, brown buttered noodles, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cabbage slaw and ham. YES --- I will have a little of each thing -- but I am hoping to bypass the dessert. I will just get back on track come monday.

We are leaving tomorrow noon for the weekend so I won't even have time to make anything --- or I would bring a legal dish along.

Oh well!

I had really, really bad withdrawals my first week on Atkins, but not that bad after eating the cake unless I just blocked it out of my mind LOL. I know I was mad at myself, so I probably won't cheat. If I can do this I'll give myself a big pat on the back, I'll have willpower for the first time in my life.

The place we are going to is called the Ocean House and I just found out they are having a Grand Buffet, when they say Grand they mean it. I'm sure I'll be able to fill up on things that I can eat and leave no room for dessert...that was a good idea Rosemary I'm glad that you are back on track too!
Katholyn you have so much willpower, I'm learning from you!

I love this board and the people here:D
Thanks to both of you!

I have no plans on cheating, but that is just me...LOL...I am so proud of myself for what I accomplished in one week, I just won't allow myself to go off induction... That is going to be my "dessert"..knowing I stayed within the guidelines! :):)

Have a great Easter though, the restaurant you are going to sounds incredible!! :)

No way!!!! Weigh in day is Monday. That ought to keep me honest!;)

I am so lucky I work at the gym. And that it's open until 1pm on Easter. This is the first year I'm going without an Easter Basket (Hey! It's REALLY hard to say no to one) because I didn't want to eat any candy.

But. We are getting Mudslide mix. We're having ravioli's, and our special secret recipe easter bread, and.. My mom is making a whole bunch of pies for dessert, luckily I don't like them.

I'm working out tomorrow (I feel guilty already) and I'm going to be a fiend on Sunday. But I'm having my Mudslides and stuff!

A few weeks ago when I was planning our Easter menu, I was planning to pig out. However, after thinking about it, I am just going to eat some controlled portions and see how I feel. Cheating just doesn't have the same appeal to me as it used to.

We are having turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn niblets in butter (yum!), brussel sprouts, rolls, and gravy. We have the same meal for every holiday, ha ha! ;) It's like Thanksgiving three times a year! ;)

My sister is making apple pie. I will probably just have a little of everything and see how I feel. I was looking forward to going hog wild a few weeks ago, but the closer I get to my goal the less excited I am about eating bunches of food. ;) I think things are really clicking for me and I LIKE the way I feel when I stick to my program and I realize that food isn't as exciting as I used to think it was. And I LOVE to think about food! ;)

Everyone have a happy and great Easter!!!

It's not cheating, its enjoying life!!!!!!! Hey, Life is too short! I look at it this way,I'm not on some schedule where I have to lose a certain amount of weight by some magic date. I've been dieting since 2/19 and lost 24 lbs. I'm sure I won't gain it all back in one splurge! I'll definitely try to fill up on non carb things, but I AM going to enjoy
the food part of this Holiday!!!! Besides,I don't think I'll be able to
eat the amount of food I use to. So,I say "DON'T SWEAT IT!!!!
EAT & BE HAPPY!!!! On monday, you just get back on track.

airhead( ooh! chocolate bunnies!!!)

I don't plan on cheating on Easter but it is easier to not cheat when you are not going out and not dealing with family. This Easter it will just be me, DH and DS so we are really just going to have a typical meal. I have some boneless pork chops in the freezer and I will probably have some garlic grilled veggies and a big salad with them.

I am on the Atkins also and although I will not be eating any desserts.... I have to have some of my mom's baked ziti. I won't feel guilty because I know ahead of time my limitations and I will stick to them.

I hope I don't jinx myself by saying this, but........

NO CHEATING FOR ME!

I can't do it. I'm too early in my dieting to do that. And I'm thankful to say that I have re-acuired the mind set that holidays (at least this one) don't have to have all the stuff in them that will push me off my plan. For now, a nice pork roast or turkey breast will be just fine. Luckily- I'm not craving sweets right now- otherwise I'd be in stale PEEPS heaven! :p

I definately plan on going over my points that day. However, I don't really consider it cheating. I'll still eat less than I would have before and I plan to only have one splurge meal - not a weeks worth like I've been known to do during past holidays!

disykat - you hit my nail on the head too!

I don't know if I'll really even count my points, I think I'm going to have ONE piece of candy! just one though. And I made a the WW cheesecake recipe instead of some of the higher fat/calorie cheesecakse I usually make. My family may end up being disappointed, then they can eat candy :)

Actually - our family dinner is tomorrow. Then Easter I"m baking a ham for my DH and DDs but I"m counting pts Easter day. And getting right back on track for weigh-in on Monday.

When I get tempted I'm going to remember all the motivation and inspiration I just read on this here thread!

Bean!! Listen to you! I'm so proud of you. What a terrific attitude you have!

LynnCC, I don't have willpower. I'm not going to be faced with any challenges. No Easter baskets full of candy to make up for a child, no grandmother making yummy desserts.

Remember that everyone in my family is on Atkins, no reason to make off plan foods. My mother has no stomach and sugar and high fat give her dumping syndrome, so I don't want to make her ill.

My circumstances are just different from everyone else. In this particular situation my circumstances happen to be keeping me from cheating or even wanting to cheat.

Besides, right now there is no dessert I want badly enough to knock myself out of ketosis.

Enjoy your Surf and Turf Katholyn, your whole meals sounds delicious. :D

Not gonna cheat here! It will just be dh, ds and me, and we're making a turkey breast with veggies and stuffing. I'll just watch my portions and make sure I don't go over my points. And I do plan to have some chocolate bunny tomorrow when ds gets his basket, but I'll just cut my (small) bunny up into a couple servings to make the points do-able. :)

Probably the most empowered I ever felt was that first holiday after I started losing weight when I was able to stick with the program. I'm worth it, 100%, and nothing, absolutely nothing, was going to force me to weakness.

Holidays are a wonderful time to spend with family. Food is not the point of the holiday (not even Thanksgiving). The more I was able to divorce the association of food with celebration, the more successful I was at getting to and maintaining a healthy weight.

I'll have to remember that Brian. I just wish people wouldn't get so hungry around me when we share a holiday together, this way I could just serve a salad LOL
Empowered! I like that word much better than willpower. That's what you are Katholyn Empowered. It's like a whole new way of looking at yourself in a "whole New World" that doesn't revolve around food! I'll try to remember that tomorrow,.... thanks
