I haven't been on this board for a couple of weeks. I went to WDW for 10 days and it was great. Tons of walking and not as much eating as I thought because it was so hot when we were there (May 2-11).

But, since I've been home, I've had trouble getting into exercising and ww points because the weather has been horrible. It's been gray and rainy for the past 2 weeks here in MA with only a few days of sun. The nice days I did go out walking but it's so hard to stay on a "program" when you are stuck inside due to weather and then I get the munchies.

My 2 year old won't give me the time to do the walking tapes. She doesn't nap anymore  and thinks it's funny to pile her toys around me when I try to do the tapes so I can't move! She doesn't fall asleep until 9 pm and at that point I have no interest in doing them and if I wake up before her, I try to do some things around the house or enjoy the quiet and my husband is in school at night finishing up his Master's so I let myself get lazy with exercise. What do you do to get motivated and does weather affect you in a bad way like me???

{{{HUGS}}} Cindy!

I am sorry to hear that the weather has gotten you down and has stalled your commitment to getting healthy. I remember what it was like having a two year old under foot when you are trying to do something, so I can see why you have trouble finding time. Some random thoughts that may or may not help, how about heading off to the local mall, strap your 2 year old in the stroller and power walk the mall. Take a break so your child can get out and do a few fun things, get a treat or something and then back in the stroller for another power walk. Try putting your daughter to bed an hour earlier, of course she will resist, but if you are consistant you can change the bed time and get an extra hour of time for you.

Sending :sunny: thoughts your way that the weather clears up soon. There is nothing like sunshine to brighten a persons day.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm sorry things aren't going the way you want them to.
{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}} to you!
I know you need them. I do to. The weather here finally broke, and has been pleasant, but now I'm out of my groove and it is so hard to get your "groove back". The weather just shouldn't have that kind of hold on people, but it does. I could never live in the Northwest, and that does bother me because it is so beautiful there, and the gardens that one can keep there are exquisit. To get my groove back, I'm coming back "on board", and am just going to start doing it again. Sometimes, just going through the motions, even if your heart isn't in it, sparks you and things start happening again. Good luck to you. We can do this, together, you and I, and the rest of our wonderful WISH angels!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

I know what you mean about the northwest as we just moved out here! It can be VERY gray here, but hwen it's sunny - you appreciate it all the more! Luckily for me gray hasn't seemd to effect me too much.

I can't really give you much advise about excercising without sun, but maybe I can help with the little kiddle thing. What time does she get up in the am?? Try excersing before she gets up, or as suggested, put her to bed earlier. WHen my kids were little, they were in bed at 7:30- that's hard in the summer, but they adjust to that. They didn't have to sleep, but they had to stay in bed. We read them a story or two and chatted for a little bit, and then it was mommy's quite time. You might be able to do that during the day as well. You can also try getting her to excercise with you. Hold her hand and have her help you- in the beginning it might be hard, but as she sees you're gonna give her attention the way you want to give her attention, she'll start co-operating. DO you have another tv? Put her favorite video on and tell her she doesn't have to take a nap, but this is quiet time and she needs to stay here for 30 minutes- or however long you deem necesary. It takes consistancy, but you can get her to give you the 30 mins. you need for that WATP tapes.

For gray days- all I do is turn on the Lilo and Sticth cd- that music will brighten up my day any day!!!

GOOD LUCK!!! You can do this!

I have 2 DDs - 14 months old and 3 1/2. I get my best exercise by doing something they can enjoy too, like dancing to The Wiggles (they are on Disney Channel several times a day) or to a Sing Along Video (my favorites are Disneyland Fun - lots of time in and around the parks - and Beach Party at Walt Disney World) and the kids love to watch the songs and characters. They also enjoy dancing to the music. For a "pump it up" thing I'll take turns dancing with them, swinging them and other things as space and my strength allow. It's become a fun family time and we do it usually shortly after dinner or on weekend mornings.

I second the take DD to the mall and power walk with the stroller. I found promising a small treat after we had made full circuits of the upper and lower floor were a good lure for her to hang out in her stroller, and I used to put little one in her snugli and go. Now my older DD likes to walk too while we push little one, and a short break in a toy store, Disney store or for a sucker are a good and inexpensive bribe.

Yes, yes, yes! I posted the same thing a couple days ago. This awful weather made me want to do nothing for days but eat and sleep. Last weekend it was like I was going through depression or something. To make matters worse I have a sore neck.

I did stick to my jogging routine during this, but that was it. On weekdays I get up a little before 5:00, ab crunch and Im usually out running by 5:20. Weekends its a little later. That is "my" time, when no one else is up and I do what I have to do. I figure if I dont do it then, I wont have another chance until nightime and I dont want it hanging over my head all day.

Good luck getting back on track, and isnt it nice to see that yellow thing up in the sky today?

YES!!! I wasn't quite sure what it was at first ;) . Thanks everyone! It's nice to see I'm not the only one. Thanks for all of the great suggestions, maybe I'll start using my quiet morning time for exercise instead of cleaning. I'll keep you posted and thanks again! Have a good day everyone!

This lousy weather pattern is getting everyone down!! And it's not just in your head. There is a chemical reaction our bodies have to sunlight, and some people go through rough times without the sun. I also notice that for myself, I loose more weight, the more I am in the sun. Go figure!

When my DD's were as young as yours, I rode a stationary bike infront of the TV while they would watch one of their tapes or shows. It worked quite well then! Good luck!http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/family/flowerface.gif[/MG]
