People did answer. They are all cults, just a matter of how cult like.
I understand that ... but there has to be a point that differentiates a cult from a religion.
For example, if I openly state that I disagree w/one of my religions beliefs, I am not ostracized or called a suppresive person by my religious leaders. If I speak out against a policy of my religion, my spouse isn't told to either separate from me or leave the religion.
I am not required to pay money to build up my knowledge about my religion, nor am subjected to any kind of hypnotism.
I am only using those examples for the sake of having examples.
I remember, being in high school and having a deprogrammed person come in to talk to us. I don't know what cult she was with ...but she did talk about them repeatedly telling her that her parents/friends/relatives were all wrong and that their ways were right, about having to cut all family ties, etc.
Is cultism the act of controlling people? I do not allow my religion to control me. If I disagree w/something, then I disagree and nobody says boo.
I'm just trying to gain a better understanding of where the line comes for religion and cult.
