Is Anyone Else Going to Miss the Dream Squad?

We were at the parks for 3 days and didn't see them. I did, however, buy my son a pair of "dream ears" on ebay, LOL. Hey - it's a collectible!! (I was surprised that someone sold their "dream" on ebay, but my son got his much wanted set of mouse ears for less than $20)

Count me in with those who won't miss them. While it's nice for those who won, and we did win nominal prizes ourselves twice, as a local resident, it always irked me that the promotion always favored those visiting from out-of-town, who of course were the ones the promotion was targeted for (plan your trip to Disney and win a prize!). Furthermore, it didn't feel particularly good to be a loser when you were frequently reminded of how many won. The one time we went there post YOMD, it was refreshing to just enjoy the park without being rubbed in our face that we didn't win any Dream Fastpasses that day or, for that matter, the Dream Suite.

Just curious--how did the promotion favor out-of-town park goers? From what I saw the Dream Squad didn't differentiate whether one was local or not.

here is my question, if this is completely 100% over, WHY are they still doing the YOAMD reserved table at Pizza Port????? I swear, I WATCHED them set the table up and pick someone to do this on sunday. . .

I didn't see any difference either. I got dreamed a few times and I am local.

Mainly it has to do with the guests arrival at the park. Those with APs tend to go later in the day, since there is no pressure to do the parks "commando-style," whereas those who are staying from out-of-town tend to be the block of those who are in line at the park's opening. Coincidentally (or not), the dream squad also skewed to distributing its prizes toward those early hours, when most AP holders would not be there to win. It's not that those with APs couldn't win (we won twice), but the system clearly worked against those who come to the parks later.

Hello? Didn't the CMs get the email YOAMD is over? :confused3

Maybe they're going to continue doing "Magical Moments" since that was what that really was (along with meeting 1 on 1 with princesses, Billy Hill premium-whatever it was seating, etc...)??

The Special Seating experience at Redd Rockett's Pizza Port and other DLR Restaurants were never actually related to the Year of a Million Dreams Celebration.

They are Magical Moments, pre-organized/scheduled planned experiences that allow Cast Members to go above and beyond the normal operation of things and create special memories for our guests.

It's a concept that originated and has roots at WDW in the 1990s and was introduced to the DLR a few years ago.

Basically, the entire Year of a Million Dreams Celebration was an opportunity for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts to create even more Magical Moments on a bigger and grander scale than ever before (the Cinderalla Castle Suite at the Magic Kingdom Park, the Disneyland Dream Suite at Disneyland Park, Dream Fastpass).

Even though the YOAMD is now concluded, DLR CMs will continue providing Magical Moments to our guests in a wide variety of ways. Being in the right place at the right time can still have it's benefits :goodvibes.

As to Pizza Port, it's nice to know that they're still doing that. That was my original location when I first started at the DLR, and I have many fond memories as a result of that particular Magical Moment :).

(And yes, I do realize that this post is italicized to the max, lol.)
