Is ANYONE else excited for Christmas?

HI All,

Christmas will be quiet at our home, this Christmas Eve. My Beloved has to work Christmas Day. So we're celebrating Thur evening, with a nice crockpot full of chili and just us and the teenager! The next day, Abby, myself and one of the Schnauzer boys will drive w/ us to my parents home. Our newly engaged daughter & her fiance' are meeting us there for dinner.
We will set a place at our table for my son, who is in Afghanastan, and we'll remember ALL those who serve their country. Gone, but never forgotten.

I wanted to wish ALL my friends here a warm Merry Christmas and a VERY Happy New Year!!

We leave tomorrow for Myrtle Beach. My in-laws stay down there for the winter and DBIL and DSIL will come over from Charlotte. Looking forward to a nice quiet time with them. It will the first time in 3 years we've spent Christmas with them. Although we had an amazining time in Disney I'm looking forward to a nice quiet Christmas.

I'll be officially spending my first Christmas in 44 years, not with my family. It's a very odd feeling. My family and I are so close.

Stupid weather.

Although it's wonderful that I'll be spending it with Steven and his family (and he's really excited but trying not to show it since he knows I'm upset), it's not going to be the same.

Anyhoo, Happy Holidays!

I have to say this is the LEAST excited I have been in a long time.

I am not digging Christmas this year. Our very soggy trip 3 weeks ago was our "Christmas". Since we got home it has been a flurry of work, school and play rehearsals for DS, other odds & ends of every day life.

We ended up not even putting up a tree, because it is SO time consuming. All of our decorations are in storage so they have to be picked up, brought home, tree assembled, blah blah blah. Since we have THREE cats this year it is a safe bet that there would have been fatalities of one sort or another. (Ornaments, cats, hard to say.)

We will NOT travel in December again. We spent a ton of money on that trip, then we had crappy weather so it felt like money wasted. Of course we all agreed that trip was it - no presents. But while DS's mouth was moving, his brain was not computing. He is NOT cool with skipping presents, so now he is all mopey. We did get him some small things, but still...

The older I get the more I think I could do quite well without Christmas.

Really had to laugh at this, I also have 3 cats, 1 14 yr old who could care less but 2 11 month olds holy cow I had been thinking about that since we adopted them picturing the chaos and potential loss of life

We opted to postpone Christmas this year in lieu of moving Although we are renting, this perfect house needed a major paint job (previous owners were a little obsessive with Mickey Mouse and painted purple and aqua with mickey and minnie designs all over) so we started that last night.. and hope to be able to move in on Saturday.

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday no matter how they spend it.

I'm pretty excited. We got the tree up Sunday night. Usually, we get a noble fir from the nursery (they smell SO good) but this year we piddled around too long so we had to cut our own. We put the same funny funky old decorations on it that we always do (plastic balls that can stand up to even a grabby two-year old and various homely little art-project-things the kids made in school over the years).

My family will all be here and a few friends too for good measure. I'm going to make up a big pot of chicken and dumplings for Christmas Eve dinner and am also going to attempt Ohana bread pudding with vanilla ice cream (recipe from Deb Wills' site) We scaled way back on the adult gift-giving a couple of years ago. (It was too expensive and not really all that necessary) The little people will be getting plenty of loot though. It is SO much fun watching them tear into the stuff under the tree.

We're getting a pretty big snow right now -- so on Christmas Day, we'll goof around outside in it and then come in for board games and junk food. (OH YES -- There WILL be junk food!) By Sunday, my daughter and my son's family will head back to Phoenix and the boys and I'll take down the tree. Who knows if we'll all be able to be together again next year? This year, however, I feel like one of the luckiest grandmas on earth.

I've been mostly looking forward to things this year. We've had a good trip (I know, my report is backed up, but, that just means that I'll get to keep thinking about the trip for awhile yet), we should get home in time to spend Christmas Eve with our church family and then we'll have a couple of quiet days together and alone.

We have a young cat and we'll be cat-sitting for 2 other young cats when we get home. The three of them like to fight a lot and I can just imagine the havoc with our Christmas decorations. However, our previous cat broke just about everything glass in his first year of life, so, I don't know that there's much left to really destroy.

I am looking forward to Christmas, but not for the usual reasons, as our work load gets crazy in the months of Novemeber and December, and now we can finally rest.

However, my son (11 soon to be 12) is out of his mind with excitement. That is keeping us all in a good mood, mostly!, and Christmas morning will be joyful.

We are going East the 26th, to one house for my side and then on to the other side. Eight hours to the first group, and an additional four to the second group, yuck! Depending on how it goes we may not do this again in months that have snow

Very excited, but I always am for Christmas. I love the season, the music, snow (hey, I live in Syracuse - we get enough of it that its hard to ignore), I am big person on giving so between gifts, time and donations to charity I love it (note, I also give through out the year to charity, not just the holiday season).

I'm also glad my brother-in-law is back in Syracuse (he was stationed in Afganistan - special forces), and that he's safe and can be here with his wife (Chip's sister) and his son.

I wish everyone safe travels and an excellent holiday.

We are all very excited about Christmas! Our daughters are bouncing off the walls! We don't give them presents because we take them to WDW in January. So, they have to rely on Santa for a gift at our house! But when we visit our families they get presents. We are thankful because our families live within four miles of our house. We don't have to worry about cats at our house. We have two collies but they couldn't possibly care less about the tree. (Guess that is a REALLY good thing...they are girl dogs and it is a fake tree...maybe that saves us from the dogs watering the tree )

Mathfailure, that eight-hour drive with kids at Christmas must be REALLY interesting! I hope things are peaceful for you and your daughter.

The girls are in the Christmas Eve service tonight, then we have to put out reindeer food and cookies for Santa. Then try to get them to bed.

It is difficult to be 1500 miles from DBF and our families(mine I can do without ) but I'm trying to remain upbeat. More than anything, I just want 2010 to start so I can hopefully begin a better year than the year I've had.

I don't want to be a scrouge and I do live 7 miles from MK, so I'm considering actually getting up early tomorrow, going to MK, and grabbing a pastry and coffee to watch all the crazy tourists try to navigate the park. Nothing says xmas like MK to me and if I can't be with family, I have to at least be with Disney.

Good for you! That sounds like a GREAT idea. When we were there last week, we were SO feeling the Christmas vibe.

My tree is in the corner of the living room - not a very big room. My 19 year old son is moving a chair right now to make sure there is enough room for all the presents. I have two kids 17 and 19. I asked him if he thought it was necessary to move the furniture. He looked at me and said, "Of course." I said maybe there aren't that many presents. He just looked at me and said, "Oh there are." And what's ridiculous is he is right.

My kids are spoiled - though very appreciative.

It's nice to come down here now. There's hardly anyone here. Yes, it's too cold to go in the water but we walk along the beach and make sand castles. And if we see 3 other people while we're out it's a busy day.
