What I mean is we DO PARK PARK AND MORE PARK.........EVERY TRIP. Of course we do the DTD most trips....but we never take a day to check out other resorts or do other NON PARK THINGS. I always feel like we are wasting PRECIOUS PARK TIME. I really want to incorporate some OTHER DISNEY MAGIC THIS TRIP..but I am sooooooooooo addicted to doing THE PARK THING EVERY DAY. We arrive on Thursday evening Nov. 17 for 9 nights, so our first day is Friday in the parks....and we change hotels on Wed. the day before Thanksgiving to CS for our last 3 nights..........and we would like to do SEA WOLRD..but I am even NOT SURE about that. I am so into the Disney Parks.......I might end up NOT DOING THAT ONE for fear of losing a disney park day. I am scared my kids ages 15, 12 and 6 would feel a non park day to be a lost day...so DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THAT WAY.

I used to be....until this past trip when we embraced doing non park but still Disney things like LaNouba, Hoop De Doo Revue, Wagon Ride at Ft Wilderness, massage/spa at Saratoga Springs.....We didn't even do AK this time!!! Sacrilige!!

Now for next time, I have a list of great NON park things to do....with the parks of course!!

Every trip, I vow to do better and venture forth to other venues. Not happening. We generally "do" 3 parks each day -- morning, after lunch, and evening.

I have been coming to WDW since 1975 and was always the same way, it took until about 1995 - so 20 years - until we also tore ourselves away from the parks. The reason why - my husband had developed some client relationships in the Orlando area, and had to spend time off property seeing them part of the time. Well, it worked out well for me, because now he needs to be in Orlando so much that we have a Condo in Celebration!!!! But I sure don't blame you for just wanting to stay in the parks!

I feel exactly the same way. DH doesn't even like to go to DTD because he finds it a waste of time.

We got better this trip and actually went back to the room after a half day at AK and swam in the pool. The kids were tired and we decided we just wouldn't push it by going to a park for dinner and rides that night. But I have to admit I was bummed about eating at the food court instead of one of my favorite places in the parks.

I never associate Disney with a relaxing vacation, although we always have a great time there. There's so much to see and do that I can't go there and not have a park day, so we usually do at least half a day. Epcot is our most relaxing day - we take a couple loops around the World Showcase and snack and check out the entertainment. When the kids get older I'm sure we'll have a water park day, and I'm hoping to get them on a pirate cruise next year as well. I think as they get older, we will branch out more.

DH and I do DTD the first night we get there. We usually stay in the parks, but since our Honeymoon trip in Sept was my first time to WDW he took some time to show me some of the resorts as well....just to give me an idea of where we could stay when we come back in May!

Oh yeah. We are major park junkies. We have been going several times a year (5 times this year) for the past 14 years and NEVER stepped foot in a water park, did DTD once and only last August ever swam in the hotel pools, did SeaWorld once, never tried Universal.....it is always WDW parks for us. :sunny: We feel like we're missing out if we aren't in the parks. We always stay onsight at deluxes, so it's not like we can't go back to the resort easily and take breaks, but we don't want that missing out feeling. :earboy2:

We did start to slow down a bit and take advantage of the resorts a bit more lately, but we usually go go go..................

We love that place and just can't get enough! :wizard:

We're a little bit of a park junkie. We will do a waterpark (but only one morning's worth) and we'll go to DTD one night, but otherwise it's race to the parks. I felt like we had to last trip (we were there over spring break) to see even a little bit. Plus, PS's can determine your schedule and tie you to an area somewhat. We stayed at AKL and really didn't even fully check out the hotel LOL. Hopefully, our next trip in Oct. 2006 will allow for a little more time for the "out of Park" experience with lesser crowds (fingers crossed) and a couple of extra days added to our trip.

I would much rather do the parks than anything else. Disney Quest does not interest me, I don't drink or do the nightclub scene so Pleasure Island is really of very little interest, I like to shop, but there is nothing at DTD that is a must-have or must-do and I don't like waterparks....so yes, I would be a park junkie. :teeth:

We are park junkies also. All of us (DH, DS 16, DS 12 & I) love to ride the rides.
My oldest DS hates to take time out to swim although my other DS loves to swim. The first time we went in 1999 we were there for 10 days & mainly did all
counter service meals so we could go go go!! We are going in April 06 but we will take time out to enjoy the pools at POP. We get up early to get the the EMH park for that day then take a break then go to another park in the PM. Can't wait for April & hopefully Expedition Everest & Soarin!! :cool1:

I'm a Disney Property junkie. As long as I'm on property I'm happy. Everytime we go though someone in our group tries to get us to Universal. I've continued to resist :-). For our family trip next year though SIL is determined they are going to have a Universal day and my DH plans to go too, maybe DS, but that's about it. ME, I'll be at WDW :cool1:

I'm a MK junkie too! Out of 7 day trip I could go 4 or 5 days, easy. I love to just enjoy the park, watch the people and of course ride the rides. It's about Magic for me and I can't get that at DTD or Pleasure Island. I get it at the parks and especially MK. :earboy2:

Not us. I mean, we love the parks. But, for us, the whole Disney World experience is about so much more than that!

Non-park things we LOVE:

mini golf at WinterSummerland and Fantasia Gardents

an evening dinning, shopping, and strolling on the Boardwalk

renting surey bikes

taking a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness (or a Christmas sleigh ride at the Wilderness Lodge)

visiting the other resorts for dinner

tea at the Grand Floridian

spending an afternoon and evening at Fort Wilderness (walking around, seeing the horses in the stables, dinner at Trail's End, campfire singalong, etc)

renting Water Mice and exploring on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake

La Nouba (we've seen it four times!)

eating, shopping, and people watching at Downtown Disney and the Westside

the Adventurer's Club and Jellyrolls

treating myself to a massage or pedicure at the Grand Floridian spa

enjoying the theme, atmosphere, dining, recreation, and shopping at our resort (the resort we stay at is as big a part of the trip for us as the parks)

Anyway, I know I'm leaving things out - but you get the picture. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE the parks and we always hit all four multiple times, plus at least one water park. It's just that we really appreciate and love the other things Disney World has to offer as well!

I guess I feel totally opposite from all of you who say that spending time outside the parks feels like a waste of time to you. To me, if I only do the parks, I feel like I'm not taking advantage of everything Disney has to offer!

I AM A HUUUUGE PARK JUNKIE! we get there and go to the parks! why do anything else? LOL we usually go to dtd once, maybe twice if we go to disney quest. but thats it! we never resort hop or go to resteraunts in an of the resorts

I guess, from our perspective, until we are at a point financially where it's not a HUGE expense to go to Disney...we'll be park junkies. You just don't feel like you are getting your money's worth if you aren't in a park...

Now, if I could only address that financial issue....darn, someone already won the Powerball!

a minor park junkie. I do feel any minute I'm not in a park is a waste. We did do universal/IOA once (waste in my opinion). Went to outlets again last trip only 1/2 day. DTD is a must for shopping one night. Have never done a water park. I have promised DD10 we will do Seaworld next trip. We will do that till supper time and then back to disney park. We actually gravitate to MK mostly. AK doesn't take a full day - can get back to MK. You get the idea.

We like to do parks, more parks, and nothing but the parks. For my family on a WDW vacation, being in the parks is the main thing and everything lese is ordered around that.
