Is anyone currently on a Disney cruise?

Curious as to what it is like on board. Anything different? Are people talking about covid.

We disembarked this morning from Magic. CM’s talk a bit about it, when one-on-one, but not as a main topic of conversation. They did not seem overly concerned, but they don’t really have time to read everything, especially on social media. Once we heard the CDC recommendation about not cruising, we chose not to mention it to CM’s, since their job can be in jeopardy because of what’s happening,

As far as changes in the functioning of the ship, they do not allow guests to use the self-serve ice cream themselves - there are two employees at all times and the machines are cordoned off - but the buffet and the soda stations still are self-service. We noticed they were changing the spoons and tongs in Cabanas and at Cookies very often. I had never seen them change them systematically before. Our Palo server told us they added a new cleaning procedure using a special product that they use every night after service all around the restaurant. I didn‘t ask if the MDR’s were receiving the same treatment.

The main problem is still guests behaviour. I saw a guy come out of a bathroom stall, rince his hands for barely two seconds then head to the buffet. I saw guests voluntarily bypassing both the sinks and anti-bacterial wipes at Cabanas. During debarkation, a kid had his mouth on the railway around the atrium on deck 4, and plenty of kids were playing with the ropes while waiting to go through immigration.

Out of curiousity, how are they handling face characters? Were there princess / Frozen meets? In the Asian parks, these were the first to go. And also in Disneyland Paris the princesses are replaced by Mickey/Minnie or Suzy/Perla. As compensation they have a princess parade 3 times a day (all princesses on one of the old parade floats), with a little show at the hub.

Nothing different on the ship. The meets went on, with hugs. There was no change in scheduling. We did the MDAS cruise, where most characters are face characters, and they were all there.

We just got off the Dream yesterday. On embarkation, there were nurses that took your temperature before you were allowed on the ship. As mentioned above, there was someone serving the ice cream on the ship, but it was serve yourself at Castaway Cay. The wipes were everywhere including in front of drink stations. Other than that, I didn't really notice much of a difference.

I just got off the Dream yesterday. Our Experience was very similar to @Marc D 's on the ship.

The Cast Members were rigorously cleaning throughout the entire cruise. The hand wipe stations were continuously manned by Cast reminding you to wipe your hands.

I don't like buffets so we only ate there on Embark day but I did notice that the Cast were aggressive about changing out tongs and spoons used for serving. They would wipe down the drink stations near us every few minutes with a sanitizing wipe.

In the bars, cove cafe and every shop they would hand you a pen, then dump the pen in a bucket and re-sanitize the pens before handing them to a new guest. They wouldn't use any of the folios for anyone (the little fake leather ones for your credit card) because they couldn't be sanitized correctly.

They had a disinfectant spray/defogger they were using in the morning in the rooms when the guests from the previous cruise left. The staterooms have never smelled so good if I am being completely honest.

Over all, I was incredibly impressed with all the measures they took to keep guests safe. There were far more measures than I even saw. I will say, I hope they add the actual hand washing stations that they have on the other ships in the buffet areas.

We're supposed to board the beautiful Fantasy on the 21st and my husband is a little concerned about the virus especially on a cruise, and still thinking about cancel this trip :sad1:
I'm confident that DCL will keep their guests and CM's save, so keep your fingers crossed that this virus doesn't get out of control :flower1:

I think taking the temperature of passengers is to make people feel warm and fuzzy more than anything. They might catch someone who doesn't know they have a fever but if someone knows and wants to lie on the forms, all they have to do is take some ibuprofen or Tylenol to reduce it.

Did you notice any different procedures at your ports of call?

Good point.

I thought of that too, but what if Day 2 you start to have major respiratory issues and are forced to go to the Med Center? Might there be additional repercussions for passengers that questionably could have put an entire ship at risk, especially if it's discovered that you had a temp that you actively supressed?

How would they prove it?

It would detect someone with a full blown case, but from my experience with the flu, if you're that sick then you probably aren't going on a cruise. What it's not going to detect is people who are asymptomatic, either because they're not going to get a full blown case or because they haven't come down with it yet.

I don't know that they could prove it, but based on corona virus progression, it might be suspected.

I did also read today that the officials think the instances of the virus on that Egyptian cruise began with a dozen crew who had the virus but had no symptoms. How do you think they prove that?

That’s not what I’m saying. If a person gets on with no symptoms, they aren’t lying. If a person wants to mask their symptoms to board, there is no way to prove someone suppressed their fever the day before.

Wondering if people were using their own cups or reusing cups at the soda/coffee stations?

I was on the Fantasy last May and boarded the ship right after there was some sort of gastrointestinal thing that didn't really make headlines but people were talking about it on here. You were unable to get drinks and ice cream by yourself. You always saw a CM manning the stations to hand you the ice cream and fill up your drinks. Surprised to hear they are not manning the soda stations as well like they did on my cruise but you could still get soda in Cabanas so it felt a bit redundant at that point.
