Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

I am glad to see you getting enough people together for brunch after all:goodvibes I knew it would work out:thumbsup2

Do we have a final list, with names and cabins, of those participating in the Fish Extender? I'm trying to organize everything to give me enough time if I've missed anyone.
Thanks!!!
Oh yes PLEASE! Can we have a list and say that it is FINAL (as in no new additions)? We need to make everything on the same day and I want to get to it soon ;)
Is it just mainly sea food?

Also what extra events do they normally do on a sea day please

There is a lot of seafood. There is also normal breakfasty stuff, a big array of cheeses and at least one chicken and one other meat dish (or at least that is what it used to be). It will take an hour and a half or so to get through the meal (up to two hours would still be totally normal). Here is a link to photos and a menu:

Many people really love the brunch and I would not discourage anyone who has never tried it from doing so if they wanted to and could get a reservation--but then again I do not think anyone should feel they will deprived if they cannot get a resrvation;). Many people consider brunch at Palo to be the highlight of their trip.
For me personally, I did not find the food all that appealing on either brunch I have been to (even my seafood loving husband would rather skip it for a faster and more standard breakfast and lunch). The cost is $20 per person plus VAT tax. For ME (and only me) it would not be worth my time even for free and that is about $50 for DH and I plus about 2 hours out of my favourite shipboard day and not with my family.

As to what things could be scheduled during that day and time--just fun little things like I listed in my previous post:upsidedow

If brunch private? Can chidren attend?(most private events/children ok?)
Cost?etc
If children not allowed, what are you all doing with your kids?as not sure how Tiff will react as took much pushing to get her to agree to go kids club 4th night,so we can go palo????
You know.once kids make friends, the situation changes?
ps can kids go cinema and theatre without parents?or must they be always accompanied everywhere on ship with an adult for safety reasons?
Tiff is very responsible and sensible as been raised in a tourism environment, but she is only nearly 7?
On other cruises, children are allowed to rome free in certain areas of ship?

For example,if our kids make friends and want to go to cinema/show alone together? Is it possible for us to meet them together at cinema, for them to enjoy film,us to collect from cinema at end of film?

I am pretty sure Palo brunch and dinner is Adults Only. As far as the cinema goes, I don't think I would leave them alone in there by themselves. Thats just me! Now teenagers, or evern 11 or 12, yes that would be fine. Again, just my opinion. :goodvibes

Children are never in allowed Palo.

People generally check their children into the club/lab when they go to Palo.
Technically children are supposed to be 8 or older to roam the ship unaccompanied. It is not likely she would be questioned unless she looked lost or frightened though. However, the ship is fairly big and easy for a child (or even adult) to get lost on the ship--and she would not have the option to come and get you at Palo. I strongly suggest putting her in the club. Even Marika (who never liked clubs) would go twice in a week so we could go to Palo (grudgingly but she would do it). If she will not go in the club, I think it would be "safer" to order her some room service and have her stay in the stateroom watching movies on the TV or else hire a teen you meet onboard and trust to take her around.

I know yonks ago someone kindly put on this thread about the towns that are right by the ports - can anyway point me in the right direction of where this is please so I can write it down in my book - thanks

not sure if up for brunch, need to speak to Tiff and hubby?perhaps I can bribe Tiff in some way to come to a compromise!

if there is anyway to put us on a reserve list?meaning if tiff agrees aboard ship,we will do the brunch st lsdt-minute!if not,we will not attend??????

what time will this brunch take place and what is the cost?

if she likes the club fantastic! However, will not know till aboard ship and she has experienced it? Of course,Tiff is my top priority and therefore all our plans are based around her decisions and preferences as after all this trip is especially for her! Her dream!

As noted above, brunch is $20 Per person plus VAT. Most people also add an additional tip for their Palo waitstaff on top of that. I cannot speak for this group, but generally Palo does not allow last minute add ons or cancellations (even to the private group meals we have been to). It is a popular place and generally booked solid. Cancellations for things like being sick (especially if you have gone to the ship's doctor) will not likely be charged, but simply no showing because your child did not want to go to the programming could have your account charge for the $20 plus VAT fee anyway.

What other cruise lines have you been on with Tiffany? The children's programming is pretty extensive on DCL and most kids really love it. The counselors will also make an extra effort for you and your child if they know you are at Palo or in the spa--to be sure she stays happy and entertained while you are off doing your adult activity.

The problem is in Europe (Med),children are never excluded from restaurants/events/celebrations,so it is very hard for her to accept this situation and understand why as we have a different culture here, where the family gatherings in restaurants etc are everyday life and kids are seen as the jewels of the family relations!

Greek cruises, and of course, she has grown up in a lux hotel environment where she has full access and communication with hotel staff and hotel guests from a baby!spoilt but respectful!

We do live in a house, but she sees the hotel as a second home and we spend a lot of time there a pools/dinners etc!

I think you could probably put it on her level. Explain that it is sort of like a disco or K-17 movie--something that kids are just not allowed at. It does not mean children are not loved on the Disney Ship--they obviously are as they have a TON of extra special things just for them inboard, it just means that there are some adults only things as well and you and your DH want to do them so she can go do the fun kids things at that time.
Restaurants which do not allow children are unusual by US standards too; so even the American kids are not used to a culture where kids are not allowed in a dining area--but most seem to handle it just fine and I bet Tiffany will too as long as you do not set her up to expect to be upset about it by your reactions:thumbsup2. The idea of an adults only eatery on the ship was totally novel when the Magic first came out--but it is popular and people enjoy it.

Thanks Hadley for your respond and tips. I will go and ask for the galley tour the first day. Otherwise I had been searching and reading the Navigator for this tour over and over and I would'nt find it :rotfl2:.
And how is Bingo like, I've never done that before so I think it would be fun, but you have to buy the bingocards dont you? It's not only for the old ladies:lmao:?
I would like to do the brunch too, but also I don't know how my kids will react on the kids clubs, I know my oldest daughter will do fine, but don't know how the youngest one will react. So maybey the next cruise ( I'm sure I'll be cruise addicted after this cruise) we'll be more experienced and know how to plan things with the kids.

I will be honest and say that in 8 Disney cruises and that many on other lines I have never done BINGO :lmao: You do have to pay for teh cards, and I am cheap;) We have sat in at the end of BINGO a few times as we were waiting for whatever was happening in the same room next. It is pretty much paper tabs on paper cards and they pull balls out of a machine and the number lights up on a baord and they call it and tell corny jokes. Lots of people LOVE it though and I guess there are some nice $$ prizes to be had. There are certainly lots of people who are not little old ladies there:goodvibes

Oh, and yes you will most likely be cruise addicted after this:rolleyes1 funyn how that works:upsidedow

My 20 year old daughter and I did Bingo on our very first Disney cruise, 6 years ago. We had a blast and it was between us and another family to win the grand prize of over $5,000!!! We didn't win but we had a great time. They normally have bingo games throughout the cruise and then the granddaddy of bingo games at the end of the cruise. It is a bit of an expense, but fun nonetheless!
We also attended the towel folding class and I have my cheat sheet to this day! The galley tour sounds very fun since I love to cook and work for a company that provides supplies and displays for the food industry.
That's why we keep coming back. So much to do!

Nice to know that there's so much to do. I'm doing a lot of trip report reading since the 10 day med cruisers are coming back. That's my main addiction at this moment :surfweb:

Not us sorry. We are not huge seafood eaters and I am starving when I wake up so won't want to miss breakfast. I also want to be free to attend any of the sea day events.
I am not a huge seafood fan either, but they have other stuff and I love pizza too.I am just looking forward to some kid free time, as the rest of the day will be spent with my kiddos, and doing everything with/for them.... I can take 1.5-2 hours of the day for my and hubby..... plus to meet some neat new friends :thumbsup2

Myself & my husband would be up for it if you get a slot. Thanks for trying.
Tracey
I pm'd you

My wife and I would like to join the Palo's Brunch if you have any more openings.
I pm'd you

DH and I are up for brunch! Can we do that even though we have a Palo's dinner booked?
I pm'd you - And yes, you can do both (you'll be charged the $20 per person each time though)

Don't forget to count us in for 2 as well for Palo Brunch! I hope we can get enough people, fingers crossed!:wizard:
I've got you down and we are all set :thumbsup2

Roni, I have pm'd you :goodvibes
pm'd you back

Great!! I am so glad about all the responses! So if everyone who is interested gets me thier reservation # and names, that will make 16 of us, so I will make the list based on who provides thier reservation #'s first. But the bigger issue is.... Hopefully they still have a private room available. Like NHdisneylover has stated, there might not even be an available room. I've tried calling Disney, but they said that they wouldn't be able to determine that information yet, they review the requests 30 days prior to sailing, so we have 9 days. I hope to request it tomorrow or Thursday the latest.... so whoever is interested, please pm me your reservation # and names asap.
