Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

:thumbsup2 Thanks! It is currently downloading... can't wait to see it. I've been watching Samantha Browns Passport to Europe on the travel channel, very good info there too.

I can't get Samantha Brown on the cable package we have , and iTunes Canada does not have any of the podcasts , so I always try and catch her shows when I go to the States, I bet her Passport to Europe are good.

Has anyone started excursion Planning? I think
I will do DCL excursions for Rome and Naples and the others on my own.

Hi there - We tried to book this cruise last night with my husband's cast member discount only to learn that Disney canceled the Cast Member Cruise discount as of YESTERDAY. What a bummer. I have a TA checking into pricing but we may wait for a space available reservation. In that case, we wouldn't know if we'd be traveling with you guys until July! Can you imagine having to wait that long???

We'll probably book flights over and see Barcelona in any case. We'll wave to you guys if we don't make it.

*fingers crossed*

We are planning excursions too! Well, trying to anyways. I want to do the Best of Rome excursion from Disney, but i've been reading that you don't get bathroom breaks or shopping opportunities ~ so still debating on this one.
I don't know if the Florence on your Own is a good one, I kinda want to do the segway tour in Florence, but rely on Disney to get us to there first?

Has anyone looked into any non DCL excursions?

I hope you get to go with us~ you are more than welcome to hang with us meanwhile. I'd hate not knowing, being in suspence until then, absolute torture!

I did extensive research last spring for a friend who did a Med cruise. We are planning to do private tours. From reading trip reports, my concern with DCL excursions is the group size. It sounds like a lot of precious time is wasted waiting for everyone to get back to the bus (seems like someone is always late).
On cruisecritic there are message boards for each port. I found a lot of helpful information there on recommended private tour companies and doing it on your own. You should also read trip reports on the disboards. There was an excellent one for the 10 day Med cruise written by a travel agent who gave detailed instructions on doing the ports in Italy on your own.

We are right here!! My husband and I will be sailing this cruise!! Can't wait, but before we can do this one we are doing the disney panama canal in 2 weeks!!

I am just planning to do the disney excursions...I have them all planned out and can't wait to book them!

Where did you read about no bathroom breaks, some days I think DCL excursions are the way to go and other days I don't, but no breaks would be an issue. I have travelled a fair amount on my own and love just wandering
In new places but tours are nice for getting information that you miss on your own unless you have a whole pile of tour books.

I know the report you mean and the pictures of the Coliseum really convinced me to do this cruise.

I so wanted to do the Panama Canal cruise, but the date just did not work. Have a great time and hopefully you will share some pictures.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year:cool1:
My family booked this cruise about two weeks ago using our DVC points. We're leaving early to visit Spain. We'll be flying out of Boston to Madrid. Then take the AVE (bullet train) to Cordoba, Seville, Granada, and fly to Barcelona, spending about two days in each city. Hope to hear from everyone.

Would you be able to link that report here? I couldn't find it.:headache:

I am on my iPod so my linking skills are lacking but I just bumped it this morning so it should be hear the top of the trip reports . Disneyfalcon is the writer of the report, First Med Cruise is the title.

Glad to see some new people booking this cruise, welcome aboard.

mkmommy -I read about the bathroom breaks on one of the other threads, that Disney doesn't make time for bathroom breaks, you have to find a restroom on your "freetime". I've been reading so much, I can't really pin point where I read it to be honest, but I do know it was on this forum.

gusdmh - Hi Gus! :wave2: glad to see you will be joining us!

Polyluvr - it's almost thursday! I can't wait to see if you and your family will be our shipmates. :thumbsup2

All - I was thinking of working on a website for our cruise. To list all of us that will be sailing, maybe a fish extender if anyone is interested? This is our first cruise, so I am flying by the seat of my pants here. ??? What do you all think? :confused3
