Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

I am sure Disneyland Paris will be busy, but I am not going for the rides, more just to see so it should be ok. I was hoping to book Easyjet from Paris to Barcelona but they do not appear to fly that route in the summer so I will need to find another airline .

I did see the increase so the cruise must be selling.

Booked my flight from Paris to Barcelona for Aug 26, so now I am set.

Now port planning!

Booked yesterday-had a bad day & thought it would cheer me up! Me, husband, son (5) and daughter (3). Did the 10 might Med this year & had a great time. The kids were so so excited last night when I told them we were going on Mickey's boat again. My daughter was screaming with excitement but did check if Capital Hook was going too as she was a bit scared of him.

What a great pick me up:cool1:

We always love to watch the little kids with the Characters they always are having so much fun.

Any tips that you discovered on your 10 day med cruise?

Yay! We booked the cruise today! Now we are looking for flights:eek:
Sadly we can't use miles or anything. But anyways.... super duper excited!

What about hotel stays before and/or after?

Me, my husband, son (6), and my mother are going on this cruise. Should be an amazing trip! I was also considering Disneyland Paris, although it might be too much since we would only have a couple of days pre-cruise. I've been researching touring options at each port and I'm getting really excited!

We stayed at the Novetel City Centre last Aug and I would recommend it if traveling with kids, the rooms are large, close to the metro and it felt safe to be out at night. It is not in the centre of the city but there is a mall across the street so not in the middle of no where either.

What a great trip to take your mom on. Are you flying from Detroit, we fly usually from DTW or Buffalo but this time going from Toronto. Love staying at the Westin before a flight.

I am spending a day in Paris but now I am thinking about spending the day in Paris and not doing Disneyland Paris, I have been to Paris before and it lovely so we will see.

Mkmommy,

Yes, we probably will fly out of DTW unless I find a significantly cheaper fare out of Chicago. We got a free valet parking deal at the Westin in Aug. It was wonderful! We will definitely stay there again!

Hi everyone. We booked this cruise yesterday, taking advantage of a special offer. We are doing the 11-night cruise on May 28th too, but couldn't resist the prospect of a week in August too.

We have 3 kids, aged (on the cruise) 11, 9 and 6.

:cheer2:

2 Med cruises in one summer :thumbsup2 your kids are lucky.

Take lots of notes for Rome please.

Okay, I will look into Novetel City Centre. Is the Westin there in Barcelona? That would be nice too.

Wow Halo! That's great!! I'm sticking with you on the cruise, you will know what it's all about, can't wait to hear about your experience in May!

Question for those of you that have been to Disneyland Paris, what hotel do you recommend? I was going to do offsite , but leaning towards on property so I can get EMH for Friday to get in a couple of hours at the park before I head to the airport to go to Barcelona.

Hoping to do some reading on Rome, it sounds so easy to do on your own, but still leaning towards a DCL excursion, so I get information on what you are seeing. We did not do an excursion in Lisbon last summer and I spent hours when I got back trying to figure out what we saw.

Can't believe tomorrow is Dec 1, hit the 90 day mark for our spring break cruise on the Dream, can't wait to check it out.

Our favourite hotel is off-site - Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France, but if time is tight you might be better staying on-site. Of the on-site hotels the Disneyland Hotel is far better than the others but at a cost. Again, if you are not staying for long it could be worth it. Of the other on-site hotels, the Sequoia Lodge is, I think, better than the Newport Bay or the New York; less expensive, but with excellent theming, is the Hotel Cheyenne. Our favourite is the Marriott - but that's possibly because the Disneyland Hotel doesn't cater for families larger than 4 persons.

I hope this helps.

We stayed at a Marriott Villa in Arizona a couple of weekends ago and it was beautiful, so I am sure the Village d'Ile de France would be also. I think I will stay on site, with the current 30% discount the Newport Bay is only $20 more than the Sequoia Lodge so I think I will book Newport Bay just to have a shorter walk at the end of the day.

I think the only Starwood hotels are Le Meridian and I think there is a W somewhere but it is really expensive.

Newport is actually further than Sequoia from the parks.

Its difficult to read but here's the sat photo from Google.

The building labeled Sequoia by Google is actually Newport - Sequoia is the inverted C building on the right. The route to the parks is to follow the top of the lake into and through Disney Village (DTD equiv.).

The thing is though that these hotels are big, so it could depend where you are in the hotel too. :)

I always forget what a good tool google maps is, I will have to do some more research.

There was an interesting documentary on Pompei on BBC TV, in the UK, this week. It is adult in theme so be warned. You should be able to find it on-line if you Google ""Pompei: Life and Death in a Roman Town" +torrent". (Anyone in the UK can access it via the BBC's iPlayer.) The female presenter is a suitably eccentric Classics Professor from Cambridge University. Very informative, and good viewing, I thought it might be of interest as Pompei is the main attraction in visiting Naples on the cruise.

:santa:

:thumbsup2 Thanks! It is currently downloading... can't wait to see it. I've been watching Samantha Browns Passport to Europe on the travel channel, very good info there too.
