Is anyone at WDW right now and how are things?

Thanks for keeping us updated, we are all worried about you guys. Stay safe!

they are at AKL and are asked to stay clear of all windows and doors, but they are still having a fun time and playing games and dancing in the lobby!

DM said there are some downed tree limbs, but the trees were holding up really well!

My DS said this morning that she had gone down to get food in the lobby and a woman and her child were complaining that a danish was NOT breakfast for them. Then she said the mother of the child said, "Well, honey, if they don't have better food than this...we'll just go to a drive-thru for some real breakfast!"

They are under curfew and are not allowed to drive anywhere! And who in their right mind would even travel in that sort of weather? How silly do people get in these wierd weather conditions?!

Damage report: Nothing big so far--but the smoke house located on the MK side of WL--one of their screens mesh has come loose but at this point is easily fixed, one tree has a snapped branch still attached to the tree, just peeked out the window and found a snapped tree.

Wind Report--the trees are bending a lot and a lightpost with security camera is visibly shaking.

Water Report--Rain through the downspout is flowing at a steady stream--and the waterway by Contemporary that connects Bay Lake to the other Lake--I could swear that the water level looks much higher than normal--and looks like it could carry someone on boogy board--or better yet, looks almost suitable for river rafting.

A Danish for breakfast? The nerve of Disney...hah, just kidding.

I am surprised--our restaurant was open for breakfast as was our quick service restaurant. They had more than just Danish. Perhaps they are comping some of the snacks or something over there and she wasn't pleased with the freebie choice? That is the onlly thing I can think of.

I am surprised they are playing in the lobby over there. I guess it is up to individual mgmt staff at each resort--I know that those resorts that have exterior corridors have had the guests confined to their rooms for some time. At GF a mgr was telling guests on Friday that they wouldn't be opening their restaurants all weekend but I don't know if they followed thru with that or if they were able to open some. He said they would be selling boxed meals. Perhaps that is what happened at AKL--can you tell us what your family said Sazzosmommy?

WL has glass at the ends of the hallways of the room floors and for one side of the hallway that runs along Artist Point and for an entire wall in the lobby. I think the reason we are in our rooms is that they are afraid of the windows blowing out. They have a LOT of leaks by pretty much every single door and window of the pool facing side of the lobby. Lots of towels out and plastic sheets to protect the floor. If water can get through--then that means there is some breach in the window that makes it more of a risk with the windy conditions. Some of the leaks are actually small flows of water (skinny skinny--but constant) and not just drips.

Mgmt can do whatever they want in the interests of guest safety. It stinks--I agree. I am not on vacation--I had to evacuate, so I am appreciative of the $109 per night rate that I have as a Fla resident and will follow what they say whether I like it or not. For those guests who were "trapped" here and unable to leave--they have my sympathies...for those who chose to come this weekend with knowledge that the hurricane will hit this state and knowing of Disney's waived cancellation/late arrival penalties--they do not have my sympathy. Disney has these "secret" manuals--where basically there is a point from being Disney to having to enforce safety. I forget what these manuals are called--but a CM will have to help me here. In any case--they still have the Disney-esque language in their communications. "For your comfort, we have prepared box lunches. Please proceed to the nearest elevator. A CM there will..blah blah blah." It still all has the Disney touch :wizard: .

They are selling the box lunches for $5. I do not know what is in them as we won't be purchasing. We were able to get lunch just before Roaring Forks closed and have lunchmeat and bread to make our own sandwiches later.

Checking in from the CSR...we have been confined to our rooms for a while but we still have plenty of food...hubby is icing down the last four beers though and that's not good if we're going to be stuck here much longer ;)

We were supposed to leave today and did reschedule our flight for 2pm tomorrow. I haven't heard anything lately about flights and delta still shows our Monday flight as confirmed. I guess no one really knows what will happen in the next 24 hours.

Looks like the winds are picking back up. I've walked to the icemachine a couple of times and haven't noticed too much damage just branches down and leaves and stuff on the ground.

Hope everyone else is making it through fine!

My thought are with all of you now. I think down here in my section of the state we are done with the worse... I am glad for that! If I had to be stuck somewhere, I would want it to be Disney (not that that is a comfort to anyone) and not a shelter. Hang in there & try to enjoy what you can. For those of you who are there due to being evac from your homes, my prayers are with you & hope that your homes all come thru ok. For those of you who are there on vacation, this will be the vacation that you will always remember

I know that they had dinner last night at JIKO...it was s buffet type meal, not regular dinner.

They thought that today they would be confined to their room, but they are not! They just had to stay clear of all doors and windows. They cannot get too near the big glass window of the lodge. I don't think they can go out to MARA anymore. From what I understood they were having boxed breakfasts this morning and free coffee. I guess the danish was a part of the box!

I'll call right now and see what and how they are doing...

They have been playing games all morning in the lobby! I am talking to my DM right now as they are having an African drum contest. They are playing CandyLand in the lobby as we speak! They are by the fireplace playing with a CM of Boma's DS and playing with Mickey, Goofy, Pluto and Suzy Mouse! They had a wonderful boxed lunch of roast beef or roatiserie chicken with four of the wonderful soups from BOMA to choose from! DM said that it was only $24 for the four of them to eat!

Another band showed up just now and DM said this same band played last night until 10:30 while people danced!

For all of the bad weather...they are having a wonderful time!

DM said only one window that she has seen has a little leak!
That was a live report from AKL!:wave2: :rockband: :rockband: :rockband:

Blast disney and their inexpensive box meals and that danish....
;)

I'm on the South Beach Diet and sticking to it as much as possible. We brought some food with us so we have been doing breakfasts and dinner in our room, but lunch outside of our room.

Hi All!

We just got back from a visit to the lobby. I'd been staring at the phone hoping to see the little message light blink and tell me they were open for dinner...and it did, right around 5pm...how's that for disney magic ::MickeyMo haha

So things had cleared up enough for CSR to open the Pepper Market, the store, and game room. We ran over and had a nice quesadilla and margarita! Lots of people (the most I'd seen in one place all week here I swear)!

They had an activity center for the kids a couple of characters walking around and plenty of food. I also noticed that they had a "Ride out crew dining" room set up in one of the conference rooms and it was packed with workers and their families.

I'm so happy to have gotten my mexican food fix...I was going crazy and the jar of tostito's salsa was NOT cutting it!

Hopefully everyone in the other resorts are getting some dinner right now and a break from their rooms as well.

Oh there seemed to be minimum damage around a couple of leaky windows and branches but other than that things have held up well.

I am gald to hear that everyone seems to be weathering the storm well. We are praying for everyone in Florida. Please, keep us updated as you get out of the hotels and can look around more.

Admittedly some guests were treated better than others, it mostly had to do with whether outdoor walking would be needed to get to the restaurant or food court.

A problem with comping food is that some people would take the food, find it not to their liking, and waste it. Then, folks who did not get any would start asking for a free perk later on.

Glad to hear that damage was minimal.

>>> danish is not breakfast -- we'll go to a drive through
Spoiled brat raising a spoiled brat

Disney hints:

If water came in under the door or around the windows, just move the furniture away and there is no permanent damage. Even the towels and plastic sheets have to be monitored and the water mopped up continually, otherwise the water gets underneath and the towels and sheets are a waste of effort.

I think all guests were treated equally--enivornment did play a role in how much they could get that equal treatment.

In any case--we are headed to our home area...but at the present cannot actually go HOME..we'll see if that changes.

Going on a gas hunt and plan to visit a store before getting home.

Toodles all--back on line, maybe in a few days?
