:earsboy: We are traveling to Disney over thanksgiving to celebrate my son's first birthday. We can not get into any of the monorail hotels so we are considering staying at the AKL. Does it have a good playground and pool for a one year old. Also how is the trip from the hotel to the various parks and downtown Disney. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Playground http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/photoaklplay.html is next to pool.
Pool, showing views of zero entry end http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/photoaklpool2.html

Also have a baby pool, full bath facility etc and food court (which is very large with indoor and outdoor seating) right at pool which is very convenient.

Great hotel with a little one. Very kid oriented. You can sit out at the firepit and listen to stories, view the animals from lots of places, sit indoors by the big fireplace all with the little one. Transportation is good, don't share, only took us 10 minutes to ride to MK.

The others have shown you the obivious reasons but truly your child will be happy with any resort you are happy. :flower:

Very. All 3 of my children, including my youngest, love this resort. In May, I couldn't get my dd out of the baby pool! Of course, my kids enjoy all of the Disney resorts, regardless of price!!

Extremely friendly. Very nice resort. Pool is great for little ones -- even big pool because it is zero entry ... you can simply sit on the bottom and they can splash without you being in the baby pool. We've had good success with bus transportation. And, if the weather is bad and you stay at the hotel, the lobby is wonderful to hang out in ... and there is a food court where you can grab a quick bite to eat without having to be in a full service restaurant. Great hotel, we love it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Seems like AKL has enough to do to keep the adults and the little one busy. Also the transportantion is not too big a deal. I think AKL is a better choice then the PR. And what kid or adult does not like animals. Did anyone take the special safari for hotel guests only early in the morning?

We will be taking it the end of November. Since it is only for concierge guests we haven't been able to take it in the past. But, I've heard wonderful comments about it so I'm hoping it is good.
