Is Angel's Seafood Buffet good?

Anyone been to Angel's Seafood Buffet lately? My friend would like to try it and we were wondering if its any good.

This is just my personal opinion, but "NO."

The first time you go you marvel at all the seafood: lobster, crab, etc. My DB, DSIL and DNs had been there on their own and thought it was great. But as you're eating you're thinking, "this stuff is not good." Not good value for the price. This opinion is not based on one visit, but three. (Talk about not learning.)

Talked my DB, DSIL and DNs into letting me take them to Coral Reef. It was cheaper, really, though CR isn't a buffet, and the food was much better.

You may want to try Angel's anyway just to see for yourself as, again, this is just my opinion.

Can't comment on recently but if this is the place in the Holiday Inn, we were there a long time ago, '98, and wouldn't return. It was AYCE buffet lobster, crab, fish, roast beef, etc - on the cheap! Not terrible food/but not great, moderate lines but this was off season, obviously no atmosphere, lobster, shrimp, etc overcooked, too salty, not of very high quality. The salmon and other fish was actually the best thing on the buffet(which to give them credit was expansive). Buy pitchers of drinks as I remember. Refills aren't free and the food is salty. Did I mention the food was salty?

You get what you pay for, and sometimes less - but NEVER more.

I thought the lobster was inedible, tough like shoeleather. I could get better crab legs at the local chinese buffet. I wouldn't recommend the place.

We went a couple of years ago and didn't think it was too good. My husband is a lobster fisherman and it was the worst lobster we've ever had. But then again we're used to it right off the boat. But we didn't think the crab legs and other stuff was very good either. I'll agree that it is salty. The crab legs were so salty that you could hardly eat them. The rest of the stuff was nothing great either. In my opinion "skip it" and go to Shells or Red Lobster or other seafood restaurant.

You can go to CAPE MAY buffet at disney's Yacht Club (mussels, clams, shrimp, yum..) for about the same price! You can go to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and see the animals and eat an amazing buffet. We went to Angel's Diner to eat at the restaurant because it was in the entertainment book and they conveniently close in the evening with a sign on the door that says "buffet open" to force the poor guests to pay that price. What a tourist trap.

If this is the place at the old Holiday Inn Nikki Bird, then NO! Yuk! Also skip the Golden Corral buffet near there...the one that has the seafood. It is way over priced for yuk seafood. I think 2 adults and 3 children was $60 at GC and $80 at Angels.

LOL...no wonder he hated it then! I went to school up in NH and I used to get lobsters off the boat....yummm..!!

IMO, you can't get good lobsters outside of New England, Florida lobsters aren't even comparable. Someone told me once that the best lobsters come from the colder waters. Now shrimp in Florida is another matter...but not at a low cost buffet!

Are we going to see your DH on the Discovery Channel show on lobstermen?

I'm a huge "Dangerous Catch" fan already! And big sailor here in Chicago / Lake Mi...nothing like they go through though...and I've been through some pretty hairy and scary stuff.

I agree about the shrimp in Florida. We're big shrimp fans and I think we eat them every day when we're there on vacation.
We're from the southern tip of Nova Scotia, just across the water from New England. I don't think you'll see DH on TV but we do love to watch that show. We mostly watch the Deadliest Catch and have only seen the lobsterman show once and it was when we were in Florida in March.
He does know what it's like to be out in bad weather. Our lobster season runs from the last of November until the last of May. (right now actually) A lot of the time in the first of it when you catch most of the lobster you go out in weather that you probably shouldn't. He probably wouldn't start out in 35 - 40 knot winds but if he's out there and it breezes up he doesn't come in either. You get alot of water in the face on those days. ( Well, he doesn't get too much because he's the captain but the crew does)
