Is all the transportation to hotels the same?

We've been to Pop Century, Port Orleans, Caribbean Beach and Animal Kingdom. It seems that the value resorts always have about a million times more people in the queues, but I haven't decided if it's just coincidence or a severe case of Murphy's Law, and whatever line I'm in is the longest.

The last couple times we went we counted the rows in the queue leaving the park at night and most of the deluxe resorts only had 1 row of people. The moderates seemed to have about 3-4 rows of people and the value had literally the entire set of rows filled and a huge line extending beyond the queue line. A Disney rep has told my hubby in the past that they all have the same transportation set up. I just wondered if anyone knew that to be true or false. I don't know if it's because the deluxe or vacation club guests typically rent a car and don't use the service, while the value guests do;looking for a totally less expensive vacation, etc. Does anyone have any input on this? I'd love to go to a resort that has a little bit better transportation to it. I have a newborn and an antsy toddler (like everyone else so standing in line at the end of the night for an hour sucks terribly.

We are planning a trip in the fall sometime, and I really don't mind spending a little more a resort does have better transportation, but I don't want to bother with it if they are all the same.

I have found it to be hit or miss with the buses.

The only real different ones are the Monorail Resorts for MK and the BW area for Epcot. MGM still takes a some time .However I think they punish you a bit with longer bus waits at these resorts.

I was very dissatisfied with the bus system when we stayed at Pop... everything else there was great, but I didn't want to stay there again because of the waits for buses. We stayed at AKL and the bus system was soooooo much better. The buses seemed to come quicker and weren't over-crammed with people.

I have noticed that the Value and Moderate Resorts have a lot more buses then the Magic Kingdom Deluxe Resort buses combined.

We've noticed this, too. I wonder if it has something to do with the size of the resorts. Like AS Sports has nearly 2000 rooms, while WL has only about 730. That's a big difference, especially if you assume a lot of the Sports people are bigger families vs couples. Maybe the value resorts are usually closer to full occupancy, too? I have no idea really, but we have commented on the differences.

On our last trip, we stayed 6 nights at WL, but later added our last night at POP because WL wasn't available. The transporation difference was HUGE! We hardly ever waited for a WL bus, but the last night we waited for an hour in a huge line to get back to POP. It was unreal. We vowed never to stay at a value again. One night after a late dinner at AKL, we boarded a bus back to TTC to try to get back to WL. When the driver asked why we wanted to go to TTC so late, we told him where we were staying, and he actually called and got permission to drive us to WL. We were the only ones on the bus, so it wasn't a huge deal for him, but to me it just meant all the difference in the world with a tired baby. Not saying they wouldn't have done it if we were at a value or mosd, but that was Disney Deluxe service to us!

One other thought is that a lot of the deluxe resorts have alternate transportation (i.e. monorail, boat, short walk to park etc), so maybe that accounts for a small difference, too.

Between ASMu, ASMo and ASSp, there are almost 6000 rooms in those three resorts.

Obviously they are going to have FAR more buses running at park close than the WL with just 730 rooms.

Pop Century has 2880 rooms. They too will have more buses running. The lines can be deceiving for these larger resorts because, like most other lines at Disney, they tend to move quickly.

Of course there can be exceptions but I've always found the Bus Service at Pop to be more than acceptable. In fact, I prefer it over the service to the Contemporary or some other 'higher end' resorts.

Go figure.

And as always remember this rule : Whatever line I'm standing in, is the one that isn't moving fast enough.
