Is Alfredo's really that bad??

This is our 1st trip and we've read some very bad (as well as some good) reviews about Alfredo's. We're going as part of the Candlelight Processional package (we have the dining plan) and I am starting to wonder if we should just cancel the whole thing and take the evening off so that we don't exhaust the kids and have a lousy meal on top of it. The concert sounds nice but I don't know if it is worth the effort. The whole family is really into gourmet Italian food and I'm afraid that to us, Alfredo's will be just plain bad. What do you think? Anything in particular we should avoid/get? We're going for an early dinner before the 6:45 show. Thanks for your advice!

We ate there this summer and loved the food.It can get a little crowded, but I was not disappointed by my experience.

i had the penne alla vodka and tiramisu. The food was delicious.

Alfredo's can be hit or miss. Sometimes it's good and then sometimes..... Please don't cancel the Candlelight Processional, it's one of the most beautiful and emotional shows that you will ever see anywhere. If you're concerned about the restaurant, call and change it to another. Pick a restaurant that will hold your children's interest, like the Biergarten or Teppanyaki. Enjoy.

We had our Candlelight Processional dinner there last year, thought it was pretty good. I had the pasta trio (I forget exactly what it is called but it was 3 kinds of pasta).

We too heard many mixed reviews and decided to give it a try last year. We loved it and love the ambience, lol. I thought about it this way, there are restaurants on site that I dislike very much but others love them. I say try it out so that you can make your own decision! Have fun.

We ate there on Sunday 11/13 for dinner and thought the food was excellant! Everything we had was good, but we did have a complaint that we felt like we were being rushed out. Appetizer (callamari, which was the best we have ever had!) came within 5 minutes of ordering, but then our entrees came 5 minutes later! Our waitress literally hovered over our table (she asked if we wanted to order dessert before we were even halfway through our entrees...), but we didn't let it bother us too much, we still took our time and enjoyed the great meal. We were the only table she had, so we must have been seated at the end of her shift and I think she wanted to go home! We didn't see anyone else having this problem, so I think it was just luck of the draw for us with who we got as our server. But even with that problem, we definately would go back again.

we ate there earlier this month and had the best time. not everyone is going to like every place. even if it's not you're style, i don't see how you could hate Alfredo's to the point of regretting going. the atmosphere is great, we had our best meal there (and we ate at some other signature restaurants) and our waiter was adorable speaking to us in italian all night. i'd say stick with it!

I would have liked it better were it not so crowded--i.e. the tables are SO close together, it's almost family style dining!!

we haven't eaten there in a fw yrs but are trying it again in a few days!!!!!!!!! I thought the food was wonderful...and I'm use to many good italian restaurants in our city. Only complaint would be they cram in a LOT of tables so you're right on top of each other. It's not a quiet romantic meal...though the decor would suggest so. But the food....delicious! BTW, it's fine w/ kids.

I was just curious if there is a basis of comparison for the food there? Is it authentic like my friend's grandmother's Italian cooking or chain-restaurant type food? Both are VERY different. Plus, I hear that the Alfredo sauce is quite unique from the "norm"?

We have given it a couple of tries the last 5 trips or so. I am not going back--many more restaurants are much better,IMHO. We thought the food was lack luster, service slow or abnoxious, tables way to close together......However in your case, if you want to keep your reservation for the Processional Dinner--keep to choices people have recommended....Realize it may not be the best food, service and ambiance you ever experience and then be pleasantly surprised if it exceeds your expectations. Stick to small meals and get great desserts????

Besides everyone is different--one person's excellent is another's lack luster--Find out for yourself.....

Like someone else said, Alfredo's is one of those places that always has gotten mixed reviews. Personally, my family LOVES it. We never miss eating here everytime we are at WDW. Most recently, on our trip in August, I think we had our best ever meal at Alfredo's. My picky DS-8 still to this day talks about how good the fettucini alfredo was (he's usually a chicken nugget type of guy )and any time it's on a menu of a restaraunt we go to, he tries it but always decides it just doesn't live up to Alfredo's fettucini at Disney! We've always had wonderful servers and the tight feel of the restaraunt has never bothered us.

To me it is authentic Italian. My whole family, including me, was born in Italy and grew up with Italian cooking along with cooking it at home now. It is more Southern Italian style cooking then Northern Italian cooking

It is modeled after the Alfredo's restaurant in Rome

I do think it is overpriced for some items

We've given Alfredo's multiple chances but must always get the "miss" days as other posters have so graciously stated. YUCK. The pasta trio I had last summer was awful...Chef Boy Ar Dee tasted better. The servers are rude and inattentive if your party isn't cocktailing it; we've gotten stuck in the small and noisy side room instead of the huge hall and that's like eating in a neighborhood deli with totally unattractive decor. No dice for Alredo's again--who wants a lackluster meal with unsatisfactory service when Biergarten and Le Cellier are around? Mama Melrose in MGM is better on all points from menu to service, .

To answer your question, yes, I think Alfredo's is really that bad. The food is okay, but just okay, and I don't think it comes close to really good Italian food. The whole restaurant is much too crowded, very high noise level, but the thing that bothers me the most about Alfredo's is their wait staff. The service is spotty, at best, but the pressure exerted to buy wine is just too much. Give me a break already, I said No thank you to the wine. Lots of people like Alfredo's, but for the life of me, I don't know why.

We finally gave it a try in October. The fettuchini was out of this world amazing... I know of nowhere else that makes it anywhere like that and I wish I did! The lasagna was basic lasagna like you would find anyplace else.

Service was FAST, meaning, we were out in 20 minutes - no joke. But it was great, so much that we tracked the manager down later to compliment him on efficent staffing. However, it wouldn't be a relaxing romantic meal.

We did not think tables in our section were close together at all - though I've heard that comment a lot. But maybe in the main section?

I will say that it's $$$ for the portions. very small portions for the money.

We thought it was awful. Another aspect, the tables are very, very close together and it is loud. Not a very good place for quiet conversation or romance, thats for sure. The food was not great, a few items were okay, most were bad.

like most wdw places, you take your chances. we ate there long ago and really disliked it. some however love it...so only you can decide...that being said what we had i would never consider great italian food ( like we get at a few places at home near us which is why we never get italian at wdw )
