Is AKV the only DVC that has Concierge rooms?

After hearing about AKV Concierge level, I may try to upgrade my ressies. Then I started wondering if any of the other DVC resorts had Concierge level rooms, and what they might be like. Anyone have any thoughts? :coffee:

thanks!

No, AKV is the only one and they only have 5 two bedroom lockoffs. Very difficult to get.

AKV is the only one and there are VERY few rooms (10?)IMHO this was an error that's going to be a problem Disney is selling this place with this benefit that's going to be next to impossible to get!

I agree it's a mistake, you'd think DVC would learn the lesson at some point. Still, a limited option is better than no option.

That's correct, and 5 one bedrooms.

Wow! Sounds like my sister and I were both lucky to get the 1-bedroom concierge rooms for the last night of our trip in mid-November. We're both on waitlists for studio concierge, but we'll happy with the 1-bedrooms if the studios don't come through. We're really looking forward to the Sunrise Safari tour early on the morning that we depart WDW.

Perhaps once Kidani is fully open, they will change all of the Jambo DVC rooms to concierge if demand is there.
:hyper:

If they were to do that, I wonder if it would require them to reallocate (i.e. lessen) the total points needed for other room categories?
For example, if 10000 total points rentable include 10 concierge rooms at 40 points each (400), if they increase to 20 concierge rooms at 40 points each (800) decreasing the number of non-concierge rooms, would that mean the other rooms could only cost a total of 9200 points instead of the original 9600 points?
:confused3
(way over thinking this!)

I'm not sure they could at this point. They could sell the concierge access I suppose. Truth is that the lounge is generally at about the capacity it can handle from what I've seen.

I could be wrong, but I believe it would be very hard for Disney to add new concierge rooms. My understanding - and, again, I could be wrong - is that Florida timeshare regulations would make it exceeding difficult. I don't believe you are supposed to allow pre-paid housing "points" to get extra goods and services that are paid for out of maintenance budgets. If you think about it, it makes sense. Disney shouldn't be able to sell extra points, then have members pay for the concierge services out of maintenance budgets. DVC only "gets away with it" at AKV due to the unique deal they struck with the lodge on costs.

They could always establish a concierge lounge somewhere in the Kidani building, I suppose, and have some concierge rooms there.

Well, too many points for my liking in either case.

Only for non declared inventory I'd think.

I think this is also made easier by the fact there are so few DVC rooms. The total cost, compared to all the other operating costs, has to be small enough that it is not material. More CL rooms would likely make this a much bigger problem.

In a new resort, DVD might be able to set up a CL where the point cost includes only the value of the room and each guest pays cash in an amount sufficient to reimburse for the costs of the goods and services provided. Not sure if such an arrangement would be as popular.

We are staying at AKV CL for 2 weekend nights in May partly becuase the additional points (when compared to our BWV BW view room) for those nights was only 2 per night. Not sure if we woudl have been willing to pay, say, the same number of points plus $100 per night. -- Suzanne
