I've read various reviews online re: AKL transportation to other parks (especially MK), and some people have complained that it took them 45 minutes to ONE HOUR to get from AK to MK. I find that really hard to believe. I mean, aren't the parks less than 10 miles from each other? So the bus transport time should be no more than 15 minutes maximum, correct? Unless the bus travels at 5 mph? Or are these people keeping track of time from the minute they leave their rooms to the minute they step into the park, and included all the wait time at the bus stop? If so, that's not really an accurate description, IMO. I would be interested to see just how much time one actually spent on the BUS itself, not including walking time or waiting time, since those really vary.

BTW, does the AKL share bus transporation with any other resorts?

We had great bus service both times we stayed at AKL. It's excellent. They do not share bus transportation with another resort.

Best bus transportation on property, in my opinion.

Don't forget - some people are just not bus people.

We went in November and it was excellent. We hardly ever waited for a bus more than 5 minutes. Direct service... never stopping at other resorts to pick up and drop off. (we loved that). There was always a bus waiting when we were ready to leave the park. Also the busses were never full except when parks would close (understandable)
We thought we got to the parks very quick. Much better than driving!!(we also had a car)

Hmm. I've never read one legitimate complaint about AKL bus transportation - quite the opposite, actually. The WL bus transportation comes under far greater scrutiny on this board.

I have had great service there.

(I have also discovered that people tend to think buses take longer then they really do. I once was waiting on a bus when a family showed up at OKW. Bus came, Dad complains to bus driver "We waited over half an hour" Hmm.... I waited 15 minutes and those folks arrived after I did. Dad then complained that was taking WAY to long to get to the park. We were going to Epcot, it is very quick from OKW.)

Hi,

I have stayed at the AKL five times since it opened in April of 2001. The stated bus service for any of the WDW resorts is that the buses run every 20 to 30mins from your resort to one of the parks or DTD. During our stays we have never waited more then 20mins for a bus at the AKL. During our most recent stay we only waited 20mins for a bus once and that was on the morning that we saw the bus for the park we wanted to go to pulling out of the area as we were walking down the path so we knew that we could be in for the max. wait. The ride from the AKL to the MK is between 10 to 15mins depending on traffic and your driver. So yes it could take as long at 45 to go from the AKL to the MK if you encounter the max wait for a bus which is stated as 30mins and you encounter traffic.

That being said it is no worse that taking a bus from the GF to or from the Studios. We took the bus from the Studios to the GF and the bus stops at the CR and POLY before the GF so from the time we arrived at the bus stop to when we got off at the GF was between a half and hour to 45mins.

The shortest bus ride to/from the AKL will be to the AK next is to the Studios with a stop at BB when it is open, then to EC and the longest ride is to the MK but a 10 to 15min ride in my view is not long.

The bus ride from AKL to MK is the longest bus route we've been on. It's not that bad though. The only time it was inconvenient was when we were taking Dniece back for naps. From the time we left the park to our room was usually at least an hour. With a two hour nap that's about a four hour block of time. That's a lot when you go in the off season and most of the parks are only open 9 hours a day.

The other time it took us a longer than expected was going from AKL to Poly for dinner. From room to resturant podium was an hour and 45 mins. I had expected it to be over an hour (they say to leave an hour when traveling from resort to resort for PS when you book) but I didn't expect it to take almost two hours. We were late but they seated us not long after we arrived anyway.

I like staying at AKL but I don't choose it for it's transportation options. I think they are just so-so.

two years ago we stayed at AKL over labor Day weekend. bus servcie was excellent! I had an 8am PS at cindy's -NO problem!

Love those buses! We have been to WDW many, many times and never waited more than 10 or 15 minutes.

We take the bus even when we have a rental car.
