AAA is my hero. I don't use it often, but it's been a lifesaver when I've needed it -- like the time that I had a harrowing flat on the expressway in the winter - 10 degrees below zero with ridges of frozen white, gray mountains everywhere. I get out of the car and am standing, in heels and a way, not warm dress coat, looking at the tire which is of course mounted under the SUV with despair. A tow truck pulls up behind me, sees the AAA sticker on the back window, cheerfully says, "Climb in my cab -- it's heated," changes the tire, loads the old one back up, then simply writes my card number down and I sign. He even preheated my car again. Or the time, just 2 months ago, on a 95 degree summer day when my 5 month old boxer puppy decided to step on the power locks when I'd gone back to the tent to grab a sweatshirt while camping in a state park in Hancock, MI in the middle of nowhere. Of course the windows were up and the rangers weren't allowed to open cars because someone had sued them for damaging their power locks, but they did call AAA. When AAA learned there was a puppy locked in the car, they were there in 15 minutes (and this park really was isolated...) Or the time the car died, as usual, on a frigid winter night, with a blizzard developing, in front of a steak restaurant. We went in and had a steak, while I called AAA and watched the tire change operation from the booth window. A signature and we were on our way in the preheated car. See why I like AAA?
