Is AAA worth it?

We are AAA members, but we've always booked our trips on our own.
We decided last week to go this April. The only deal WDW is offering is 30%(we plan to stay Deluxe). Which at this time of the year isn't a great deal.
We're thinking of wandering into our local AAA agent and see what they can offer us.

Has anyone booked through them? Is it worth my while to go in there?

Also does anyone know if I can book the Dining Plan through them?

TIA

We booked both of our trips through AAA and were very pleased! Yes, you can book the Dining Plan through them, in fact it was because of their recommendation that we used the Dining Plan the first time :cool1:. Our kids loved the special AAA Storytime. January is Disney month at AAA so they are offering some sort of deals sothis is a good time time to check them out

We have used AAA on the last three trips and have a great time every time we have been there.

My AAA agent is always up on the deals & calls me when something new pops up to save me more money/get more out of our trip.

I'm not certain, but I don't think AAA will beat the 30%. It couldn't hurt to try, but I think they only ever offer the current deals that Disney is offering or their 10% off.
I could be wrong though.

If the AAA office is close, it is also worth while to go there and buy your tickets to avoid the lines at the parks.

We always buy our park hoppers at AAA. With 6 of us, I can spread the purchases out so it doesn't kill my budget.

In other words, you don't have to go thru AAA to get a room discount only - you can call disney and do that yourself by just asking for the AAA discount. If you are booking a package then I would go thru AAA because they will give you a booklet with a few extra perks.

AAA is worth trying. Their service depends on which office you use. Many on DIS find them very helpful. My local office is worthless (I've tried both PA and OH offices). They have given both friends and my family incorrect information, and are not Disney experts. But that is local offices here. Go in, however know your prices and an idea of what you are looking for then see what your AAA office offers.

You don't even have to go in. I booked through AAA and did it all by phone. My agent emailed me all the details after and it was very smooth. If a better deal came out, she would call and let us know and then send a revised invoice.

as others have said, I don't think think AAA will be able to "beat the price" but a knowledgable agent may know if there are other deals out there. There is a normal AAA discount that varies by season and level of resort - which is a help when there are no Disney promotions going on; we used this our last trip when we added a day to the end of our stay (and have used for other trips).
There are also AAA perks assocated w/ Disney packages booked through AAA. Our upcoming trip is a split stay - my AAA travel agent was able to apply my pin code to both pieces (a package and a room-only).

Our local AAA office is not very good either. I have begged them repeatedly to keep me up to date on specials they or Disney are running but they never call, email or send anything snail mail at all. I always have to search everything myself and give them all the info. I think it stinks to give them commission when I do all the leg work. I have heard others who have great agents though. Is it possible to book outside of your local office or out of your region? We are IA/MN.

Thank you everyone.

We went to AAA this morning, and they couldn't beat our TA's price. The only perk they could offer us was a $25 gift card.

We ended up leaving their stuffy uptight office(where the lady knew nothing about WDW) and went right back to our TA who makes us feel like we're making the choice of a lifetime by going to WDW.
Plus we walked away with a few pins:)
