I read in a different post that a "new" Fastpass system will be in place by the summer? Is this true and if so what are the changes?

If you go to the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board, there are a couple of really long threads about it all. The first change is that as of March 7, they will no longer allow you o use your FP "late". Many of us counted on the fact that there was an "unwritten rule" that you could use FPs anytime AFTER the printed window on the same day. That will no longer be the case as of March 7. They say that the change will help usher in the new FP system where you will be able to make "reservations" for a ride before you even leave for your trip. There's a lot of speculation/discussion about this perk only being free to those who stay in Deluxe resorts onsite-- the rest of us will have to pay for the perk of being able to reserve rides so far in advance-- at least that's what the rumor mill is saying. No one knows when the new system will be in place (unless I've missed a recent announcement-- I haven't looked at those threads in a couple of days, so I could have missed something!). So, that's the one paragraph answer!!! I hope it helped :). --Katie

Why is this in the budget board? I mean there have been OT threads but this is about something that will easy be found in other places on this board.

I would assume it's because they were able to receive a quick and concise response without the thread turning into 100 pages of bickering. I too have seen those threads and I can't distinguish up from down because they go on and on. Ekatiel's response gave me exactly the info I needed to catch up.

:thumbsup2 The opportunity cost of spending the time to read all those threads is too high!! Is that budget enough ;)??!! --Katie

because if you want the correct answer, you post where the intelligent people are. Budget minded people always seem to know everything before it becomes public.

It is budget related. You might have to pay extra to use the Fastpass system (for example - stay at a deluxe hotel) or it may become like Universal's express pass that you buy it if you don't stay in their hotel.

I disagree.

If I want the latest news on codes, I'll find it on the resorts board before I see it here. I also first learned about the beverage coolers that are being installed at the value resorts, not here, but on the resorts board. Imagine that! The very board that made refrigerator swaps into an art form had no information about the beverage coolers before the resorts board did!

If I want to know what is happening at the theme parks, the TPAS board will know about changes long before they appear here. And if you really want to know what's coming down the pipe, you check the rumors board and Jim Hill.

This is the very last board that I would check for anything that has to do with changes at Disney. And it is not immune to disagreements and hijacked threads. Just take a look at the thread about picnicking in the parking lots.

Of course, if you want a recipe for how to stretch a pound of ground beef for a week, this is the place to go (not the cooking board).

And to stay on topic with the OP, here's a link to jim hill media with a blog post about the latest speculations regarding XPass, just posted a few hours ago.
