Is a full-size large enough?

I'm looking at getting a rental car on our vacation in November. There will be 3 adults, 2 children, 2 large luggage bags, 1 medium bag, and 2 - 3 book bags. I originally had a mini-van booked but my husband thinks he would rather drive a car - plus it's cheaper.

I am looking at Hertz and their full-size car is a Chevy Malibu. The website states it should fit 2 large bags and 2 small bags - some even show 2 large, 1 medium, and 2 small. Is this really accurate luggage wise?

I know the inside of the vehicle will be large enough for us as we have a Dodge Dart and we fit 3 adults and our 2 kids in it all the time for small trips. I'm just worried about luggage space. Thanks!

I think you should be fine. I fit that amount of luggage into the back of my cavalier. The malibu is a little big bigger.

I would think you'd be able to fit the luggage no problem. The only question I have is how old are the kids? Are they in car seats/boosters? If so, it might be a tight squeeze for an adult to fit in the back with them.

My kids are 9 and 11 but petite. I was mostly worried about the luggage as I sit in the back seat with them all the time.

I had more than that in the standard last year, Chrysler 200. Don't forget, you can put small bags on the seat between kids or on the floor if they are short legged. I wouldn't put the extra money out for a minivan with only two kids.

We will be able to throw their book bags on the floor board if needed but their wont be a seat between the kids as their will be an adult in the back with them. Thanks, for letting me know the trunk should be big enough though we just dont want to get down there and not have enough space and be way uncomfortable.

the luggage is only an issue to/from the airport. Its not like you'll be riding around the whole trip with your bags! I say, if it saves money for more fun, squeeze in!!!

I drive a Chevy Aveo (which is a compact) and I could easily fit that in my car. I think you'll be more than fine with a full size.
