Just wondering if you've paid for your room and/or villa in advance.....do you still need a charge card at check in???
We do not want to have "Charging privileges", so do I still need to give my credit card? (with the holidays and this trip...it is kind of high right now and I'd rather not use it, except for an emergency, I will have traveler's checks with me also). Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

I know Thanksgiving is over...I just can't change my signature picture right now! ;)

If you have prepaid your room and don't want charging privileges nor want to use the phone, you shouldn't need to use a credit card. They may allow you to post a small cash sum to use the phone and, of course, you can always make internal calls to the desk, etc. or emergency without a credit card posted.

I've always had to give a credit card at check-in when using a pre-paid method like Priceline or renting DVC points. I think they make an imprint just in case you do damage to the room, or use the phone, etc...

Having a CC also lets you do express check-out where you can bypass the front desk at check out time if you don't have any billing disputes.

Some hotels will ask for your CC before activating the phone too. However, I've gone to WDW many times where I don't give them a CC.

If your rooom is paid in full you do not need to put a credit card on the reservation. It would be your option for charging privledges. They will ask you if you would like to leave a credit card number for inceidentals, but you are not required to.

We'd already paid our room whe we arrived and we too didn't have to leave a number. However, we did when we had to have some medicine delivered! Ewww. Unless you want early check out or charging privileges like some other poster said, nope you don't have to. (I didn't trust my crowd with charging privileges);)

Would I be able to leave a credit card # for phone calls and room service, etc., but NOT have them make the credit card available for charging privileges? I do not want to use charging privileges but might like to order room service once or twice. Thanks for the help!

We put traveler's checks down for the room key charging ($500 at the Poly). We put down more mid week and received a print out of what had been spent where and another print out at checkout time when we were refunded the unspent amount in cash. This system worked very well and made me feel in control of our cash flow. Beth

I'm about 99% sure you can. I think the last time I went, we declined charging rights but still had the cc on file for phone calls and such. Just make sure the CM checking you in is clear on what you want.

Yes it is just a matter of the CM putting a N instead of a Y in the feild for charging. Just make sure you tell them you don't want the cards to charge ;)

They can do the keys without charging (they did mine last time, but it was NOT what I wanted and I had to return) You will not be able to use the in room internet without a cc on file (if you plan to use your PC)
