Is a 2 br worth the pts

We did the 2 br with dh, ds 13, dd 10 and my mom. It was worth every point. The kids took turns sharing a bed with Grama and Grama even slept on the pull out one night. The extra space was so worth it. I can not imagine doing it any other way. We are back to SSR in March and have a two bedroom for just the four of us. :cool1:

I would go for the Lakeview 2BR. That could give you another trip in a studio.

Since BLT has TOTW I personally wouldn't use points to see wishes and M.K for that price....you have to look past the parking lot to see all of it. FWIW:goodvibes

Although.....ahem....you will be spoiled and only want 1br's now....especially at BLT where the studio's are smaller.:cool2:
Happy planning

Splurge on the 2BR dump "the view" how often will you be looking out the window??but you will love the space and privacy. As another poster said, save some points and go to OKW instead...they have the biggest rooms of all. A 2BR is over 1000 sq. ft.!!!

I think I am the only one that thinks a 1 bedroom would be OK I stayed at BLT in a one bedroom for 5 nights with myself, my 2 20 something sons and my 20 year old daughter. I know this sounds like a lot, but we are used to a crowded lake house, and with 2 bathrooms, it was fine. Would a 2 bedroom have been better? Sure, but we also wanted to save the points and we had a great time. I think as long as you have your own bedroom to go in a close the door, you will be fine. My daughter slept on an airbed in the master, and the boys were in the LR, one on the chair bed and one on the sofa bed.
Now in hindsight, I ended up this year with extra points, and am kind wasting them on rooms in CA just to use them up, so my new motto is use them EARLY!

We stayed in a 2 BD at BLT in Nov. 2009 and LOVED it. We are a family of five plus we had my MIL with us. It was very nice to have the third bathroom too. We are thinking of taking her again this year in Nov. 2011. We currently have a ressie at AKL but am thinking about changing to BLT or BCV at 7 months. We only go once a year, so I don't mind splurging on the extra points. So far, we have been over every year but we got an extra set of points when we bought in and it has worked out ok. When we get to the point where we have used up the extras and have to start borrowing we may rethink or take a year off, but I don't see us every staying in less than a 2 Bd. just maybe a shorter trip to use less points.

I have only 2 kids but even the massive OKW 1bdrm home doesn't seem to be big enough for them. Mostly because they want to bring friends along. The 2 bdrm must be popular because I never seem to be able to book one when I need it. My question would be are the Grand Villas worth it?

A 2 bedroom at BLT is so worth it...if only for the 3 full bathrooms! We went with 5 adults in September and it was great for each family unit (2 couples and a single) to have their own bathroom privacy. We stayed in a SV (we're doing the same thing next year) to save some points.

Positively worth it! Just a quick little "warning": once you stay in a 1br or larger unit, you won't like the coziness of a studio again.

Ain't that the truth! I dread when it when I book a studio since I have a 2 bedroom addiction:rotfl2:

Completely agree! We had our 1st visit home in a 1BR MK view at BLT, and boy were we spoiled. So, since it was our 1st trip and we had the previous UY points we splurged on the view. That being said, when my hubby checked in (we did a split stay) he texted me that we had 4th floor and he was excited the room was ready. Ummm...hello?! I immediately called him back and told him that he needed to go back and get a higher floor - I didn't care that we had to wait. Anyway, room was ready apparently at 1:20 (we never received the page) 8th floor. We opened the door and my breath was taken away and I teared up. If it's your first trip, take the splurge. Of course, hubby now only wants to stay MK view. SO needless to say..we haven't booked the next trip since we can't agree on view.:confused3

Have a fabulous time!

Thanks for all the advice. I'm keeping the 2 br. I waitlisted a standard which I know is a longshot (has anyone ever had a standard blt waitlist come through for a whole vacation?). I feel like if I can save the diff b/w st and mk it's worth the pts difference. I may try to switch to a lake view but not sure (it's 100 Pt diff from mk to lake view). Reading this that seems to be the best advice but I'm having trouble giving up my mk view. Thanks all!

It is 100% worth it!! We usually stay in a 2 bedroom dedicated at SSR (our home resort). I don't know if you will be able to every go back to a smaller unit...LOL!!:cloud9:

We will be staying at BLT (LV) this summer in a 2 bedroom dedicated. I am so excited to be staying so close to MK!!!!:yay::woohoo:

Have a great vacation!

I think it's pointless to add to the roar or the many, but we too only get a two bedroom when traveling with the in laws. It is just so wonderful to spread out.

We stayed in a dedicated 2 bedroom last July with my daugter, son in law and two children, 13 and 4, myself and husband. We loved it, we also had the MK view, which was wonderful, althought most nights we were either in MK for fireworks, so we only watched one or two nights from balcony. It was well worth the extra points as everyone had their own space, our teenage grandson had the 3rd bathroom to himself, which he liked.

This May we have a dedicated 2 bedroom lake view for myself, husband, sister and brother in law. We will go up to the lounge to see fireworks if we are not in MK.

Enjoy your vacation.

We too were on a waitlist at BLT (for Nov. 2010) It came through while we were at Disney! (We were reserved in a 2 bedroom at ssr for the first 4 nights, and at BLT for the last 4. But, we got to move after 2 nights at SSR. It was great! So, keep calling member services, even while you're there!)

I am going to have to agree with everyone who has posted that the "2brms are worth the points."
When we first purchased our DVC (1999), our DF of four would stay in a studio (the girls were little-so no big deal). Until...we checked in at OKW and were upgraded to a 2bdrm. We have never looked back! We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the 2bdrm. :thumbsup2: DD's are now 14 and 16 and it is nice that they have their own area (and so do we)! I bank and borrow for those points and it is absolutely worth it not to share a bathroom with our two teenage daughters :lmao::rotfl2:

I just got a 2BR LV for August today. We used the remainder of this years points (only a few were left), borrowed all of next years and even purchased 6 points from DVC (that one time deal thing they have going on). I could have waitlisted for the Standard 2BR, but this is my dd's sweet sixteen "party" (we are taking her and 3 of her best friends for 5 days), so I just went for it. The 3rd bathroom was the kicker for us. She is very excited since we have never stayed there before. I requested near elevator and a higher floor.

The @BR is deff wprth the points. it is a vacation and you want to be comfortable We always do a 2BR I have 3 sons

I would sacrifice the view for space. We stayed in the lower point rooms and were able to see the top of Space mountain off our balcony and the Castle. We spent so much more time in MK that we were too tired to enjoy the views anyhow. We did get to see the fireworks from the roof top which is great.

Keep the 2 br. With a dh, mom, 5 YO and infant in AUGUST, you will be spending more time in your villa than, say, I would.

For a long trip, I would YES book a 2 BR BUT, I would NOT spend extra points on MK view. I always go for LV and have always been on 8th floor or above and had a great view of the pool and lake.

If you want a different view or size, get on a wait list asap.
