Is a 2 br worth the pts

I felt lucky and got a 2 br dedicated mk view at blt at 7 months for august. But the points are high. We're traveling me, dh, dd5, an infant and my mom. So we could easily fit in a 1 br. But we've never traveled all together for a long trip (at least a week - up to 10 days). I thought that it would be better for my mom and dh if my mom had her own room rather than be in the living room. But this will take all my points for the year. I could get a 1 br lv for the same days. I always stay in studios and get lots of nights each year so this is point "sticker shock" for me. We do love blt and the monorail. There was no standard avail and for 100 points difference I wanted the mk view over the lake view. So for those of you who have stayed in 1 or 2 br, do you think the 2 br is worth the point price?

I think the 2 BR is definitely worth the 100 point difference. All the adults will have a real bed and with 2 kids, you'll love the extra space.

I've read various reports that make me question whether a MK view is worth more points than a LV. I just booked a 2 BR MK view. We stayed in a 2 BR LV in June. The LV was nice, floor 5, nice view of the MK, lousy view of the lake. I've read that some MK views are obstructed by the monorail, are below the 4th floor, etc. I have 2010 points to burn for our 2011 trip, so I'm going for the MK view. If I didn't have those extra points, I would just book a LV or SV.

:thumbsup2 I can ASSURE you that your Mother, DH and you will love the 2 Br. Do it for her, him and yourself. 10 days is a long time even when we stay 9 nights MIL always has her own studio and my parents will have their own studio with us in Oct.

I think that is a lovely gesture and will be luxurious. Everyone will have a comfy bed and your Mom will have her own space to do as she pleases.

I think you all will have a much better time and when things become tense you each have a space to yourselves.

I dearly love, love , love my MIL and she loves me....but she loves having her own studio and would actually stay at a different resort without any problem if we could not get her a room with the points.

I think a 2 br sets everyone up to have a very relaxing vacation. SHe can maybe keep the boys while yall are out, you and DH can watch TV a little late maybe, if you tuck the boys in the Master. The three adults can visit while the little ones sleep in Grammy's room.

I think you should just do for World Peace and my own happiness here in Mississippi.

So we could easily fit in a 1 br.
How is this easy? Either you have to share a room with your DD or your mom does. Most 5 year olds will fall asleep much earlier than most adults...

After reading many posts from people who spent every last point they had to splurge on the theme park view and then be disappointed when they were assigned a lower floor and couldn't see anything but the tip of the castle, I've decided I won't be splurging on a theme park view (TPV) until they reclassify those lower floors with obstructed views into "standard view". You can always request a certain (higher) floor, but we all know that a request is just a request and somebody's got to get the lower floors.

I would go for a 2BR lake view. You can always go to the balcony to watch the fireworks or to gaze out over MK.

If you are concerned with the points - why don't you change to another resort?? Whenever we travel with family and trying to stretch points, we go to OKW.

We will be at BLT in 38 days with four people and have a 2BR. It is worth it just to have the two bathrooms. If points are a real concern, I agree with what has been said about looking at a resort that costs fewer points.

The 1 bedrooms have 2 baths and the 2 bedrooms have 3 baths.

I would go for the 2 bedroom, but is the view that important. We are staying in a dedicated 2 bed the week before Easter for 5 nights, talk about alot of points, its 345. But it will be our first stay as DVCers and we are a family of 5. So, this time we are going all out, plus we got an extra 200 points for joining, so there they go.

We are also staying this August for 4 nights before our cruise and we are going for a 1 bedroom at AKL to save some points.

I think it important to go all out once in awhile. Enjoy your trip whatever you decide.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

You will be glad you stayed in the 2 bd. This is a vacation and you want to relax and have a good time. It is a splurge-that's what a vacation is! We had a lake view on the outside curve and had a fantastic view. We could see most of MK from our balcony. Dropping down to a LV would save you points and you wouldn't have any parking lot view!

We stayed in the 2 BR MK view last Spring at BLT and loved it. We had our 2 teen DDs with us so the 3rd bathroom worked well. If trying to cut back on points, I would give up the MK view vs. the 2nd br. The MK view is great, but the 2nd br is better, especially with an extra adult who can enjoy their own room!

I'd keep the 2br, Even on vacation everyone should have a bed and be comfortable!

Positively worth it! Just a quick little "warning": once you stay in a 1br or larger unit, you won't like the coziness of a studio again.

We just came back from a dedicated 2 BR on Jan 8th and absolutely loved it! There were only four of us but my 2 boys are in college and each of them having their own bed in a room of the own was terrific. We will always book a 2 BR dedicated when we bring them. Of course we have decided that we also will only stay in a 1 BR, no more studios.

Definitely worth it!

Yes, absolutely worth the points for the 2 bedroom!

I LOVE 2 BRs!!! :lovestruc It's just my DH, 2 DSs and me, but it's so worth it! If I brought another adult with me, I'd definitely get a 2 BR, so they wouldn't have to sleep on the couch. Now, I've never stayed at BLT before, but I will probably never splurge to get the MK view. A lake view would be fine with me. If it was me, I'd go with the 2 BR lake view.

We are so spoiled with the 2 bedrooms. We are dedicated SSR owners and now have been staying in the THV's and not sure if I can go back to the 2 bedroom now. :hippie:

I definitely think getting the 2 bedroom is worth it. As far as view, I am not sure.

We are booked in a SV 2 bedroom at BLT in August and would not spend extra for MK view, because we know that some of those views are not that great.

If that is all the had, then I would stay with it for the space.

Have a great trip!!!
