Is 8 Park Days Too Many?

I am still in the planning stages of a July trip. It will be dd (12), ds (15) and myself. We all get along pretty good. For some reason, we are the 3/5 in the family that seem to be together the most (maybe because we get along so well?).

Anyway, our trip just got extended due to the airlines (darn :rotfl2:). We were planning 5 park days, but I'm thinking now we could likely do 8! Would that be too many? We will be at Shades for 12 days, so we would get downtime. We want to do all 4 parks, plus at least one water park. We do get free Sea World tickets (military) and we are toying with the idea of going there, too.

DD is a competive gymnast so is in better shape than anyone I know. I am in pretty good shape, ds is in good shape (plays hs football and workouts daily, sometimes twice), but he can be lazy...

Do you think we could enjoy 8 days at the park? I'm thinking DS may not go some days since he won't be as excited about things as DD and I are. He says he is going for the rides and the legos (help me! :crazy2:). DD and I are going for the experience, for the rides, to trade pins, to people watch, etc, etc, etc.

8 days is great! I have 3 girls and we always stay at least 8 it gives us time to do everything we want without stressing we don't have to stay in the park all day we can go back and take a break the longer the better!

With ticket days becoming cheaper as you add more it's a good deal. You don't have to go all day each day. Go for a while take an afternoon break and hit the evening possibly?

We did arrival 7 days and departing day in the parks this way with no off days and loved it. I think if you take your time and don't do park open to close each day you'll be fine.

People spend weeks at Disney! Our next trip we are doing a 10 night stay, and we will go to the parks everyday. Switch up your days, take breaks if needed, and do repeats if you enjoy something specific.. you will be fine. Have fun!

I love 8 park days because we do each park twice. Then we can hit all the things we missed the first day. It makes the trip so much more relaxed

Good luck competing!!! My son is a competitive gymnast and A friend of mine's daughter is also competing in June

We do at least one 2 week trip each year, with at least 10 park days on those trips. It changes your approach to the vacation - allows you to relax a bit more.

We also do shorter trips, but prefer the longer trips.

We've done 8 days before and we loved it. You don't feel as rushed to cram everything in. Enjoy!

EXACTLY! We got to do 10 days once. We just wanted to do every attraction at least once. Got to eat from several food offerings. Took midday breaks without feeling like we were losing value. The ten-day tix were only a few bucks more than 5-days. That was our penultimate vacation. :thumbsup2

The lovely thing about longer stays is that you don't feel compelled to spend looooong hours in the parks every day. As others have mentioned, you can take a more leisurely approach to park touring, with plenty of time for relaxing at the resort or even offsite. If you aren't sure how how may park days you want when you buy your tickets, don't forget that you can always add extra days during your stay.

This is our second year doing 7 park days. We do 2 days at each park except Animal Kingdom, only 1 day there.... It is really nice because we usually just do mornings and have a relaxed approach because we don't have to see it all in one day. We go back to the resort in the afternoon and then have dinner in the parks later at night and see the parade/fireworks show. You will love 8 days!

We usually do at least 7 and have done as many as 10. The funny thing is, I always have the thought the first day or so that the trip is just to long, and by the last day I wish we had more time because there are more things I want to do :rotfl2:

I'm so happy to hear all of your feedback! Now I'm thinking I need more days! :)

You can never have too many days at Disney!

I agree. I think a 10 would be in order-not much more than a 5 day really.

You could just pop in for an evening with no guilt, or just for 7DMT and BOG lunch, close a park at 2AM, maybe take some late night pics, even get up alone and tour a bit if the teens want to sleep in etc.

For us, yes 8 days would be too many. We have 6 right now and I'm debating whether we should cut a day from WDW and add 1 to Universal.
Our longest Disney stay was 2 weeks but I couldn't do that now- it would drive me cuckoo.

We do 8 all the time anymore. We fly in by 9 and don't leave till at least 7 or so at night the last day.

Do the parks all but two days usually. But we don't stay all day. We get to the parks around 9 and leave around 1-2. Than sometimes go back in the evenings after relaxing at the hotel/shopping/other recreation and a nice dinner. The parks are just a part of our trip. Could never be those people that go 2 weeks and go to the parks 12 hours everyday, no thank you. I would play it by ear and see somewhat how you feel when your their. Our stays are usually 7-10 days.
