We are leaving Feb 28 2007 is it too early to book airfare? I keep watching some of the prices go up for the airline we want to fly. It is the cheapest in our area but some of the more "prime flight times" have gotten more expensive. The times leaving later are still not too bad. So I would settle for that just to save some money on airfare.

If you see a very good fare, grab it. Otherwise, I would wait. February is a good time for air fare sales, but not this far in advance.

I watched my May 07 airfare go from $397 to $466 pp in less than 2 weeks! I you find a fare that you are comfortable with, jump on it.

I booked my Feb 18-25 airline tickets already at $257/pp inc. taxes. I would cancel my trip before I paid $300+ for a ticket. That being said, I am flying a vacation week so I really needed to book ahead. I'm not concerned with flight times, only prices. If you want good flight times, I would definately book now. If you want a good price, you may or may not be able to get a better deal later since I don't think the week you are traveling is a particularly busy one.

I booked our airline tickets 11 months in advance... and then watched prices go from 180 to 550 per person. I've seen somewhere... not sure where... but if you purchase an airfare and the price goes down you can call and get a voucher for the difference.

on some airlines.... some will not do anything for you OR they charge you the change fee so the price drop has to be more than $50...... but it is worth looking in to if your carrier does give a credit... SW sounds to be the best at giving credit...

i booked our flight 11 months in advance. i've since watched it go from $178 pp to $398 pp. so so happy i got it when i did. if you know what a decent price is for your flight, get it as soon as you can.

Booking way ahead is risky...too many things can happen and if you're booking an airline that has a $100 change fee, I wouldn't take the risk. If it's Jet Blue or Southwest or an airline with less than a $30 change fee, then I'd book it. Feb 13 to 26 is usually pretty rough, but for Feb 28 into early March you should see a good fare sale in December. It's not high season so no need to panic.

Don't remember exact dates... but Daytona Nascar Race & Spring Break both fall in February and March... Tends to drive airfare up.
