My son is 6years old and I am wondering if he is to young for Universal. He doesn't like fast rides..won't do roller coasters or even splash mountain at disney. Are there fun things to do there for his age?

I'm going to move this over to the Universal Studios forum. I think you'll get more responses there than the hotel forum.

Uh....of course there are fun things for him to do at Universal. Have you read the FAQ sticky yet? There are 3 coasters he won't like: Hulk, DD & Mummy. Flying Unicorn and Woody Coaster are outdoors and more geared toward kids...when Bubba was 6, he loved 'em.

There's a whole Cat in the Hat section in Islands of Adventure. Also Spiderman is awesome

In Universal studios there's Shrek, Jimmy Neutron,Twister, Disaster (previously Earthquake) and Jaws too (boat ride but slow and no drop)
Men in Black (like a juiced up Buzz Lightyear)
My ds7 liked going when he was 4. :goodvibes
Read their website and see.

We first took our 4 children to Universal when they were about 6 and; although I really like Universal, I was surprised at how much they had to skip. Yes, there are attractions for the more timid but there also will be things you'll have to walk past. Our children were riding (and enjoying) Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain by age 5. Even then, many of Universal's attractions were too intense for them. If your son does not like fast rides then he will have limited options. Perhaps you should consider the following questions:

1. What kind of movies does your son like? Universal has many excellent shows but most are intense. T2, Twister, and Jaws are really noisy and scary. Even Spiderman, a ride considered by many to be the best in Orlando, might be difficult for someone who doesn't like to be tossed about. If he's more into shows like "Barney", then there are only a couple of areas at Universal that specialize in this sort of thing. However, if he's more into "Transformers", then there are more options.

2. How does your son feel when he has to skip a ride? Your son will be too small for some rides and others might be too intense for him. Will he be relieved that he doesn't have to ride them or disappointed that he can't?

I've always felt that WDW targets a much younger audience than Universal. A 3-to-8 year-old can have a great time at WDW and ride most of the attractions. However, our son (age 11) already considers WDW to be mostly for "kids". Yes, he still enjoys Expedition Everest and Tower of Terror but Universal is much more to his liking now.

don't forget, in universal studios, there is the ET ride. think you're son would enjoy that....also shrek, as you get to meet them afterwards....not really sure he'd like earth quake or twister, but that's just me. it's very loud in there...and sudden actions. as for IOA, try the flying ride in jurrasic park, and the flying unicorn is brilliant for younger kids (as it's such a short ride) the shortist i actually know. i will write a list of atractions to avoid, if this will help you.

let me know
