I would add the additional day to the vacation, but I would stick with the 4-day hopper. I'd plan to sleep in "late" and visit Typhoon Lagoon (TL) after 3 days of WDW. My family gets tired after 3 or 4 days straight of park visiting. Also, I'd feel that I was wasting my PH day if I only planned to use it for half a day with the other part of that day spent at TL.I booked csr for 4 days. Im going to try and add a 5th day in the day before we go to CSR by getting a 40 $ deal on Priceline and getting 5 day PHPs. Then use the fifth day to catch up on some of the missed thing and maybe a 1/2 day a tyhpoon lagoon.
Is this an option? When we last visited, a single day ticket was only good for one park; we had to have a multiple day ticket in order to visit both parks (IOA & US) on the same day.You can also just do one day at Universal. Since your staying onsite one day with front of the line access is enough to see everything in both parks, some rides multiple times, with some time to spare before closing.
Regarding the discussions on fastpasses:
Some attractions will print out that another FP can be obtained after only 5 minutes. I have seen this on Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and Living with The Land. I don't know if these are always set up this way or if the system is adjusted based on crowds and usage. Also, I have read that even though a FP may have a later time printed on it when another FP can be obtained, some attractions (like the ones listed above) may allow the user to get another FP before that time. Doesn't hurt to try....
