Is 2pts too small for someone to bother with???

I have a post on the R/T board for a transfer wanted for 2pts-BCV. Do you think anyone will bother using their 1 time transfer and phone calls for helping us out with 2 pts.

I need 2 more for a Friday night next April 2009. I have 41 and the studio is 43. It's either do an add-on, rent the 41 to someone else, or bank them.

you may have better luck than me. I needed 1 point and posted on the board. After a couple weeks, I gave up and ended up just booking on cash. I was able to call a few weeks ago and get a DVC discount - so my cash night cost was about 595 vs 795 for the 1 night (2 bedroom).

However, I have seen people do small transfers at times (and did one myself a few years back when I had extra points).

In my experience you have to be "pro"-active.

Posting on the boards is fine, but reply to others who have posted and ask them to let you know if they will have an extra 2 points left over after completing a rental of their other points.

I found a few obliging DIS DVCers willing to do this for me, but for other reasons involving MS (don't remember the specifics) we were never able to arrange a transfer.

If you need more info to understand what I'm talking about, PM me. :surfweb:

Did you check the DVC member cash price, since it is a Fri night in points? Can you borrow your 2 points. I borrow when I am that short.

I haven't checked the cash price yet.

We're tapped out on points since this is an extended family trip. We've borrowed everything and I'm 2pts short for just our last night. Everyone else is leaving Friday morning and I wanted to stay one day later since we're probably flying and they're all driving.

It actually works out well for us as far as being out of points. We are planning some NON-Disney trips and will probably not be back for a year or two.

I'd like to clean the account up so I could bank a full years worth rather than bank 41 pts. If it boils down to it we'll rent the 41 I have left and do cash for the extra night.

Thanks,
Yo

Something else you may be able to do if your open to a move is... SSR is less points than BCV's. A Fri night should be available at the 7 month window, maybe even Boardwalk standard view, if you called right at the 7 month window. Just a thought, then you could save your cash. If we didn't have the one way in or out rule I would help but I am very limited myself.

I actually will have two AKV points left over from this year, I just added on a 50 point contract, banked the points to next UY, booked a 3 night stay in April for 48 points, and have the two left over that need to be used by Sept 30th, 2009. My issue with transferring them is that it's the only transfer I'll be able to make for the year, and I have 235 BWV points, if I want to transfer/rent some of those next year I wouldn't be able to because of the transfer of just 2 points. Disney really knew what they were doing, it's do the 48 point ressie, and lose the two, or book a 60 point ressie and have to borrow 10. Don't know what to do, going to think about it for awhile

It reminds me of the "Gift Card" industry and how billions of dollars get left unused or lost.

I think they saw an opportunity(people complaining about commercial renting) and jumped on it.

The less efficient we are with our points the better their bottom line.

I believe someone will come through. We really don't want to move for 1 night. We enjoy split stays but this is not one of them.

Also, is it 1 transfer per contract per year, or 1 transfer per owner per year.

Thanks,
Yo

You cannot transfer banked points, however you can bank transferred points.

Someone on another thread stated that it is one transfer per UY. I would assume that if you have multiple contracts, you should be able to do one transfer per contract.:confused3

So if I interpret this correctly, it's the UY year associated with the point that matters. If that's the case, could you transfer 07 points that are remaining and then also transfer 08 points later in the year aswell?

I have looked over my DVC documents and can't find a good explanation of the "one transfer per year." I'll have to look harder, it might be in the POS.

Last year I transferred 06uy and 07uy in the same calander year. I also transferred one per multiple contract, but I have read since that others have been denied. I really do not know the answer to that one. :confused3

Are you planning on using ME since you're flying? I ask this because we were planning on driving and the rest of my party was going to fly and use ME to get to the resort, but since the WHOLE party was not flying, ME could not be used so the whole party drove with us instead. I only mention this in case you were planning to do ME. If you were getting other transport from the the airport to resort and back, then it's no biggie. I suppose this could change your need for an extra day though.

Sorry this is sort of OT for you, but I figure I'll mention this in case you didn't know because I had just assumed a portion of my party could use the ME if they had wanted to.

We have our own reservation number and our own studio. They'll be in a 2bdrm with their own reservation number as well. As far as I'm concerned it's two separate groups.

That makes more sense! We were in a GV so I guess that since it was all on the same ressie it was a no go for ME! Anyway, good luck on getting the two points transfered in.

It is 1 transfer per account- account meaning master contract and all of the sub-contracts under the same dvc account number. If you have 2 separate master contracts (and therefore 2 accounts/2 member #'s) then each of those accounts gets to do 1 transfer (in OR out).

GOT'em!

I was able to get 2 VWL points transfered in for a November reservation that freed up 2 BCV points for me to bank and combine with the (41) 2009 BCV borrowed points I have available. I now have a zero pts. balance for 07, 08, and 09.

To my buddy who gave me two points:worship:

To the Cast member who made this all work :worship:

The fact that I do not have to call MS until 2010. :woohoo: :yay:

Will we survive? Don't know, we may have to add on.

How do these transfers work in terms of paying the person who transfers them to you? I assume that, if you wanted like 200 points, you would rent them from someone. But what if you only wanted a few points, such as the case with the OP?

To the OP: Did the person just give you the points, or are you paying him/her? And if you are paying, what is the price for something like this?

I have yet to take my first trip, but I was wondering what I would do if I was either a few points away from an extra night, or if I had a few extra unbankable points left at the end of a trip.
