Is 1 bedroom at Aulani worth it?

Going to Aulani for 11 nights in June. Family will be joining us for 4 nights. I booked 2 seperate island garden studios, but I find myself looking at one bedrooms all the time. There will be 5 of us so it would work for us all.

Not that anything will open up for that long at this point, but for such a long stay im thinking a kitchen and laundry may be worth the extra points especially since Hawaii is so water based and a washer/dryer sounds great. Plus it would be nice to show off a little to family 🤣 what do you guys think, worth the extra splurge?

I would totally do 1 BR! You get a kitchen! Food is expensive in Hawaii. And laundry. For 11 days, you're going to want that laundry right in the villa. While I haven't been to Aulani, I've stayed in studios and 2 bedrooms and will pick the larger option every time if I can.

Hmm...that's tough because while you would gain a washer/dryer and a kitchen, you would lose a toilet and a shower… But at least the 1BR has a separate jet tub with sink that is divided from the other shower/sink/toilet so two people can have some bathroom privacy and get ready space at the same time if one is good with a tub. (But again…only one toilet)

But I think I agree that the real winner here is the kitchen with dining area in the 1BR. Having space in the room to eat is clutch when you are there for that many days. I bet you will want to be able to carry food out from the ABC store (Island Country Market) across the street at the very least, even if you don’t want to cook anything from scratch. It’s a nicely sized table and good kitchen, too. And of course in-room laundry is the BEST. 😁

If there is a bathroom emergency amongst the 5 of you while the toilet is occupied, there are plenty of bathroom stalls on the 1st floor and lobby levels. (And they smell amazing LOL.)

Side note: I'm impressed that you got 11 nights Island/Garden in June! Did you have to stalk it?

Aulani for 11 nights seems way too long. I was bored after a few days. We stayed 8 nights. If I were to do it again, I would go to other islands for a few nights.

11 nights without your own laundry

Kitchen - like other said, food is expensive there. It's nice to have a place to sit and eat

Must eat - Broke Da Mouth Grindz-KAPOLEI - Ube ICE Cream Pie

We've never been to Hawaii so a good number of days is going to be at other places. We are going to have a car. I did look at staying at a different hotel half the time and it was very expensive and id rather use that money towards excursions for our trip and not have to worry about more money for hotel 😀

This is what im thinking too. We have the points so why not try for the splurge. The family breakdown is my wife and I and then a family of three so I see a pull out couch and single sleeper for the toddler which works out perfect for them and the king for us. The laundry is the huge winner. I see us going to the water just about every day. And yes I heard its very expensive there and having the option to cook sometimes is welcome for that long! Now if only I could just book it all now 🤣

Can you splurge for 2 bedroom while they are there? That many people (not the same family) and only 1 toilet doesn't sound fun.

So there would be one toilet for 5 people and only one sink and shower? That is a bummer but the added extras might outweigh it. I would love for our first experience to be in a villa! Is the ABC store really expensive too or is it better to go to a grocery store maybe when we get out of the airport? I really am a noob and aulani is a little overwhelming 🤣🤣

So I was lightly stalking here and there and then last month I looked and randomly a whole week was open island garden studio so I got that and after I got it I fully expected it to be gone but nope there were enough days to snag some for my sister! They must have released some random inventory.

I was then able to stalk 4 nights in an ocean studio and been able to get two nights of those 4 nights waitlist to go thru to island garden, but we only want to move once so im holding onto the 4 nights ov as well until I get all island garden if that happens.

The one bedrooms ofc are all gone so maybe a split like that can also be an option and do the 1 bedroom second since I will be sour to go from 1 bed to studio although my sister is coming right smack in the middle of the trip ugh. Decisions decisions.

The one bedroom for that long is a huge splurge that im having trouble convincing myself to do which is why I came here for encouragement 🤣🤣

ABC good for quickie stuff. If have a vehicle nice Target & Costco, to just name a couple spots, right down the highway, off Kalaeloa Blvd.

haha! Encouragment for more SAP? YES YES YES, BUY BUY BUY

I meant, keep the studio.

On the days when the other family is in town book 2 bedroom for only those days.
This is actually tempting but would require two moves 🤔 which my wife wont like and then the depression of going back to a studio must be considered.🤣

The switch cant be done unless my newest sap ssr goes thru because points. Day 8 now hoping to hear by Sunday. Now im excited for the possibility of this one bedroom which I told myself I wouldnt be 🤣

I think the one bedroom is worth it. That’s what I got for my DGD and her friends!
Im glad to hear the encouragement because I really want it. The laundry is the huge sell for me and like others say, I didnt buy dvc to stay in a hotel room 😃 I also didnt know it had a jacuzzi tub until @RivGirl mentioned it! I love me a dvc jacuzzi tub 😁

I 2nd that 11 night is too long for Aulani and Oahu. Book 6-7 and go to another island or save your points. Just my 3 cents.

Did 9 nights on Oahu in 2024. 7 at Aulani with bookended nights in Waikiki Beach.

The resort is beautiful, but you need to get to the Windward side of the island or North Shore to see that beautiful water.

The resort does have beautiful pools, but Hawaii is outside the resort.

I would do a 1 bedroom, having the kitchen and a living room will make it more comfortable.

Good Luck with your trip...Enjoy! Aloha!

Thank you, we actually did Google map the things we want to do and a lot of things are the same or even closer than the activities we want to do! Im in the beginning of the planning stages but We have waimea, pearl harbor, dole plantation and north shore, Kailua ranch, snorkeling, possible catamaran for a day and plenty to choose from. I know we wont regret it and then aulani stay will most likely be shorter. We want to do everything we can at aulani, massage day, luau etc. I think some rest days will be necessary 🤣
