IRS Tax Refund Schedule

if you itemize you will not be able to file until Feb because of delays with the IRS.

I think that is what they said last year, but it worked out to be earier than that. I don't itemize, so it's a irrelevant for me, but thanks for the info.

The delay just plain stinks and isn't fair. I know I'm not encouraged or allowed to send them any payments past due. Grrrr!!!

Things are really tight now and that refund is much needed and depended on.

I guess it could be worse, but it just seems ridiculous. So much of our tax system is antiquated and wasteful.

im not thrilled either:confused3although direct deposit certainly speeds receiving the refund!

thanks OP for posting the schedule:thumbsup2

Terrific... because of the college tuition I pay for my daughter, I have to wait! I really needed my refund!

I too must wait as I"m a teacher and want to write off my expenses.

I (nor my mother, a few years ago) ever had to file itemized in order to write off the tuition. It definitely never slowed down receiving my refund. :confused3

There were changes in the law a few weeks ago. They're saying that they need to rewrite the program for these forms. That is why there is a delay.

I've heard a few people say that they're thinking of filing with the standard deduction to get some money back and then filing an amended return later to get the difference back once they have the itemized program set.

Anyone else heard this?

you can always file an amended return.

i'm still trying to figure out how anybody can claim an itemized deduction for college tuition:confused3 i'm aware of the credits that used to be available to claim, not too sure of how things shake out this year.

The college isnt part of the itemization, but it has its own separate category and form, hence the delay with the new tax laws enacted for it. It isnt the same college credit asbefore.

don't get me started on the 'new' credit system:rolleyes1I don't need points.

must've misinterpreted others posts here seemed they were taking itemized deductions vs credit (didn't want to miss out on anything:laughing:).

So for people have already filed and already got it accepted, Has anyone been able to hear it on the IRS phone number where you can call check?

When you use tax software online, will it tell you whether you need to wait to file? Just wondering. I am getting a credit for college tuition, and have done a dry run on taxact, and it didn't tell me I needed to wait.

Refresh my memory....Aren't the refunds usually deposited the Tuesday before the scheduled date.
