While I agree that changing smoke detector batteries on a regular basis is a good idea (although it's required less often for hard-wired detectors with just a battery backup), it's important to note that the whole idea of changing when the time changes is a marketing gimmick created by a battery company. Change Your Clock Change Your Battery (r) was created by Eveready/Energizer and is very clever, but the primary objective was to sell more batteries.

Yep. Just like a one word change in instructions instantly doubled the sale of shampoo....Repeat.

UPDATE- My dad drove up there and changed the batteries. Still no response from the realtor even though I have emailed twice and left a voicemail.

Too bad your Dad had to drive all the way up there. I wouldn't be happy with the realtor, if I were in your shoes, but I'm glad it's taken care of now, no thanks to the realtor.

I am currently shopping for a new realtor, which is hard from out of state, but I am going to make sure this next one is better! I have a whole list of issues with this one that will be sent to the broker when I break the contract. Lost keys, advertising for open houses that didn't make it online until AFTER the open house has passed, scheduling an open house then not showing up for it (several potential buyers stuck on the porch could not get in) the keybox on the doorknob had no key in it. This woman is a dodo. Seriously. The lack of communication is really irritating as well.

yeah - you don't need to wait 'til Oct to break this contract. You have grounds right there. I'd talk with several before deciding on a new one.
