How is the iron situaiton in the ships. We are taking our first cruise next week, and wondering if we should try to bring in an iron.

There are irons (free) in the laundry rooms. You are not allowed to use an iron anywhere else due to fire regulations.

No personal irons allowed in cabins.....and just an FYI....when you use the laundry room irons, place a towel over what you are ironing as sometimes there is residue from the bottom of the iron than can be transferred to your clothing...

How many irons are there in the laundry room? Heard there aren't that many?
We're on the Magic in 6 days!
Thanks, Jinny

One iron in each laundry room - one laundry room on deck 6, I believe another one on deck 2 - not sure of any others. Our cabins are always on deck 6. Try to get there early or when you are at a port- if you come back early from an excursion. Definitely try not to go right before dinner. This trip (July), as soon as we got our luggage, I gave to our stateroom host my dh, and two sons new shirts (for Formal/semi-formal, etc.) to have pressed and a pair of my son's pants to be laundered (he did not pack his contact solution well and spilled on his pants - no ziploc). We did a lot of pressing - but the new ones take a bit longer.

It is much easier to send the few items that may get wrinkled out for pressing only and let disney handle it for you, definately much easier than standing in that hot hot hot laundry room.

When you pack..if you pack your items that are most likely to wrinkle each in a seperate dry cleaning bag (those plastic ones you get your clothes back in) and fold in 1/2 in luggage this will cut back on a lot of pressing needed. Works great.

The laundry rooms were interesting. Packed on sea days, empty on port days. Even when packed, there was rarely a wait for the iron.

We did a Wonder cruise in June and the laundry room on Deck 6 had 2 irons & ironing boards. Don't know if they have added irons to the laundry rooms on the Magic. There has been only one on all our Magic cruises.

Thanks all for your responses!
How long did it take to get your pressed clothes back? What is the cost?
Thanks, Jinny

Not sure about the timing, but the cost is half the dry-cleaning cost.
