We're going in September and I was going to take my iPod to listen to when we have down time - I don't plan on walking through the park with it plugged in as I'm afraid I'd trip over my own feet while listening. Has anyone else taken theirs along to the parks? Just wondering........thanks......:eeyore:

I have seen TONS of people with them at the parks, especially waiting in line.

I wouldn't bring one because I'd miss one of my favorite components of the atmosphere, the noises and ambient sounds, but I'm sure lots of people would enjoy their ipod while there. If you decide you don't enjoy it, you can just leave it in your pocket anyways :).

I carry mine with me but usually just listen to it on the bus.

When you've heard the same music over and over again it may be nice to have it to plug into.

I couldn't agree more. I saw a alot of people with them last month and just couldn't imagine it. Don't get me wrong - I have no problems with people doing it. They're not bothering anybody, so more power to them. I just wouldn't want to miss out on what I tihnk is a large part of the magic.

It'd sort of be like going to 'Ohana and brining Chicken McNuggets in to eat.

I wouldn't do it either. I just wouldn't want mine to get damaged by water or from being jostled.
Besides as a few others have pointd out..I like being "in tune" by not always using my "Itunes".

I always bring it on trips...but I never take it to the parks. I use it in the airport, on the plane, and sometimes at night unwinding in the room...but I leave it in the room safe when we go to the parks. I just don't want to miss what is going on around me in the parks...to me the atmosphere, even standing in line...is part of the experience of being at Disney World :)

I personally wouldn't plug my ears with an iPod (is Disney), but I'm figuring by now that my three sons' earbuds have grown to their ears. Yes, they'll wear them. I think they can even read lips now!

Our iPods will be placed in the room safe when we arrive, and we won't see them again until we check out. When we're at Disney, we only use them in the car, and rarely use the car (maybe once the whole trip). I think even if I was going solo, I wouldn't use it. I agree with the previous posters -- the sounds of Disney complete the experience.

I like this thread because it makes me think about the sounds of Disney. I'm usually thinking about the schedule, the lines, the FastPasses, etc. before the trip. Here I am now in my living room thinking of the sounds of Disney. Nice.

To me Disney is about all the senses. I use my iPod on the plane but at the parks I like to get into every sound, sight, touch, smell and taste. I have no problem with others using theirs.

I agree with everything that has already been said. I bring it so I can listen to it in the airport, and then it will stay in the room for the rest of the trip. I would never miss the ambiance in the parks. Maybe I'll bring it to DD or something like that, but never at the parks. It is also good to have if you (like me) are planning to jog at the resort.

First time visting the park with my iPhone. Loading it with a bunch of Disney movies. Figure it might be a great distraction technique for DS 5 on long lines. Fire up Cars or something and he won't say a word until we are boarding!

They're fairly sturdy. I snowbaord in -30 (celcius) with it, it gets wet, cold and severely smashed about.

Good to know! Last trip my cell phone got water damaged even though it was in my backpack. I still won't bring it into the park with me...my DD would be miffed if I Tuned her out:rotfl:

A dad at my sons' school told me about taking his iPod to Disneyland last year. He said he listened to his own soundtrack on some of the rides including Space Mountain and Tower of Terror. He said it was really cool and that I should try it. I went to DL last week without the iPod. DL's Space Mountain has it's own soundtrack that I think is really cool. And I finally tried TOT for the first time and loved it, even without adding my own soundtrack. Besides, my iPod has mostly Broadway soundtracks (yes, I'm a geek!). I think this guy was talking about listening to rock music on the rides.

I agree about wanting to hear all the sounds of the parks. Plus, the crowds are too thick for people to be walking around without being able to hear what's going on around them. If you just want to listen to it while cooling off on a bench, that would be fine. Although I wouldn't want to have it take up room in my bag if I'm only going to use it for a few minutes each day.

I took mine last year. Didn't really use it in the parks, mostly at the bus stops and on the busses. Stuff like that.

Couldn't agree more. I'm the same way.

I have an iPod and my DD sometimes uses it. But she is not allowed to use it when she needs to stay in family conversation. During travel time to WDW, I consider it as the time to communicate in family member. So, I am not going to use it at WDW and my family won't use it. For me,(please please don't take my opinion seriously. It is just MY OPINION :) ) using iPod when you are with someone is to ignoring others, like kids using DS during dinner time. If my DDs try to use Nintendo DS or iPod during family time, iPod and DS will be in trash can within 2minutes....;)

Yes I know, I am VERY old fashioned...
