Not unless they are extremely responsible, neat and have no friends that steal. My DD's touch is still missing and we are not sure if it was taken from our home or she lost it in her room someplace I haven't thought of, I wish I had kept it with me and let her check it out. She lost interest in it right away and that is why I went looking for it, she was going to give it to me.

I must be really old fashioned...lol...
My DD10 has a Disney's HM MP3 player and a gameboy advance to keep her occupied. Our(her brother) DS6 has a Lightening McQueen MP3 player. I got an Ipod shuffle from my husband for one of our anniversaries because I really wanted one. Technology and kids are now younger and younger when getting technology.

Don't limit yourself to just Apple products. My son (9) and I have Zunes and we both love them.
