I have decided I would like an iPod for me. My Dh says "finally, you actually want something for Christmas" (I am very low maintenance and frugal)

I am considering the Nano 16gb in lime green or perhaps purple;)
Then I was at Costco the other night and the techie kid was telling me about the internet and application capabilities of the Touch 8gb to stay in the same approx. price range.

Now, I am totally confused so once again I turn to my Dis friends to help me sort it out. Tell me your thoughts, Pros, Cons etc. (I have no desire to get an iPhone and pay those types of monthly fees)

Well, if you plan on watching any video like movies or TV shows or anything like that (LOVE to do that at the gym, personally...it makes time on the elliptical go by so much faster!), then I'd go with the Touch. If you're mainly going to use it for music, in the car, etc., you can go with either. I just liked the Touch because of its nice big screen. The WiFi capabilities are OK, but you do have to be in a hot spot to be able to use the Touch to get online. When I had one, I didn't use it much for that, but when I did it worked quite well.

I'm really biased so you're not going to hear any cons from me. ;) I've owned 10 iPods over the years (various models from the mini up to what I have right now, which is a 32 GB iPhone 3GS) and have only had problems with one of them (one of the 1st-generation nanos). I exchanged it through Best Buy and that was that; the replacement worked flawlessly. When I've upgraded any of them throughout the years, they've been either given to family members or (for my iPod Touch) sold on ebay, and all of them are still chuggin' along.

If you have any other questions, fire away! :)

I just got my daughters new nanos (green and pink ;) ) and DH got the touch. I must say that now *I* want an Ipod Touch. I think I'm trading in my nano soon (though I hate to because it still works great!).

Can I ask if you have any experience with the Kindle App on the itouch? Functionality, ease of reading on the screen, etc?

The Kindle app is great...I use it regularly. The reading is very easy on the eyes. Just today while I was waiting in the doctor's office, an 80 year old gentleman asked me how can I read on that small screen..I change the font to the biggest font for him and showed him...He was amazed that HE CAN read it without his reading glasses.

From what I have read..Apple will have Black Friday discounts on its Ipods :rolleyes1

Just got an itouch for my birthday. I am having fun playing with it. I love the big screen, the wifi function and playing with all the apps. I had an 8 gb video nano (one of the earlier ones) which I used mainly for music and watching movies while traveling.

sorry, that question was for OK!
I should have quoted...

Sorry for the late response...just saw this. I personally don't have any experience with it, but users on other forums I'm on have used it and seem to really like it. I've never used a Kindle, either, so I don't even know how they compare. You might try a site like ilounge.com and see what all they have to say...they deal with all things iPod/iPhone, apps included. :)

Hi, I have the kindle app on the touch and I really like it a lot. It only takes seconds to get a book downloaded. There are a few books that you can get for free.
The only bad thing about reading from the touch is after a while it begins to cause eye strain from the light on the screen. But is great for reading in a shorter time frame.

check out this thread. Just replied there and it may help

Have you tried changing the brightness of the light? that may help

I read on my iphone all the time now and do not have a problem with it.

I have tried turning the brightness down some. But I may need to go a little darker and see how that works. My problem is when I start reading I have trouble taking breaks. Thanks for the tip.
