My DD 6 1/2 BEGGED for one last year but I didn't think she was ready. I bought her a cheap touch screen MP3 player last year and told her that if she took care of it Santa would bring one next year. This year she's 7 1/2 and she has used it a lot to listen to music and has taken care of it (even without a protective cover) so Santa is bringing her the 8 gb! She will be over the moon!! I am purchasing the hot pink and white Otterbox Defender and I will insist she leaves it on!! I am planning on having it charged, her music on it, some apps I know she wants (like Angry birds, Talking Tom, Talking Santa etc.) so it will be ready to go Christmas morning.

No. I looked at the display but never noticed what generation it was. I got them at Walmart. They were both white. When I go to walmart dot com it says that Walmart doesn't have the 4th gen. at our store. But I have searched on walmart dot com for the other gen. and can't find anything else. I will check to see what gen. I have when I go back to Walmart so I can get the right otter box though. I did search on ebay for the other gen. and didn't see white in the other gen. other than the 4th gen.
Can't you tell I am a real dummy about electronics

I do recommend checking out the Otterboxes cases because our Walmart had BOTH 3rd Gen and 4th Gen Otterboxes together and the 3rd gen cases and 4th gen cases are NOT interchangable. 4G is the current generation its the ONLY one with a camera and the ONLY one that comes in White or Black.

We decided to get the 32gbs for DD7 & DD9, I plan on them using these to watch movies, shows, take pictures and lots of games. If they were only listening to music I would go for an iPod Nano.

Is it wrong that I just bought 2 iPod Touch and it is 3ish weeks until Christmas, so I can play with one of them for 3 weeks until I need to repackage and wrap them up for the kids? LOL

I bought DD 6 one on black friday... I have been playing with it since! I love this little thing! I wanted to have it loaded with some apps and a few songs to start with... then she can go and choose some more.

Apple has 8gb Ipod Touch refurbished in stock for $149, with 1 year warranty included, just in case anyone interested. Have been watching out for them for DS13 and happy to find it today. One kids' wish list complete...4 to go!

What are some good apps that teen and tween girls like? I know I am going with the facebook app, pandora app and the netflix app.

I have an otterbox on my 3rd gen iPod and just bought both my kids a 32g iPod 4th gen for Christmas along with otterboxes (purple for DD and red for DS). My only problem is that the cable that came with my 3rd gen iPod no longer works...and I cannot find a new cable that will work with the otterbox on. Anyone who has an otterbox have any recommendations??? Seems as though the cables are not long enough (the metal connection part) to fit the iPod with the otterbox on. It is such a pain to take it off to charge....so I am looking for a cable that will work. Thanks!!

Yes, I have. The ones that say they can be used with an otterbox get negative reviews from purchasers saying the cable does not work. I've looked at several and the people with otterboxes are still not satisfied.
