Ipod Touch?

Wow! Thanks everyone! I think you've pretty much sold me on it. I'm going to be laid up for a long time, so it would be nice to have it. The only bad thing is that it won't do much for me at home in the way of internet since we don't have wireless, but the games and apps and stuff should be good. :thumbsup2

Oops! Forgot to say--good luck with your surgery, Honugirl. Hope it goes well. :)

If yo go for an iTouch - and I do recommend it - I'd advise you to go for the higher capacity model. You'd be amazed at how quickly you can fill the things up!

Thanks everyone!

Thanks JerseyJanice for the well wishes about surgery, I appreciate them. :flower3:

Is Tuesday new app day? If it is, I'll have to remember that... :thumbsup2

OK!, A Toy Story app? You just sold me right there! :worship::banana: I love that game. I play it on my Wii a lot. :cloud9:

I may pony up the cash and go for the 64 GB just because now that I know about all these apps, I'll probably fill it up in an instant... :rolleyes1 This could be dangerous...

Ooh Rich, I like the Ipad. Not happy though about having to get Wifi through a carrier. I was looking at their plans for my laptop. There's a lot about "unlimited" wireless that they don't tell you... especially with ATT... :sad2:

Toddylu, I'm envious, 16 hours of Disney music... :worship: I'm working on building up my collection.

I love mine! In fact, I'm using mine to post this reply from the car wash! How cool is that?

I'll just add my agreement with everyone else... I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 32gb iPod Touch!!! :cool1:

I have about 1000 songs, about 40 aps, and 22 full length movies! And I still have about 12gb of free space. I am on that thing constantly. I run down the battery on it nearly everyday!

Thanks! Posting from a car wash? Now that's cool! I love it!

Now, the big question is, what to get engraved on the back? If I order it off the internet, I get free engraving. :thumbsup2

I think if I were to have engraved mine, I'd probably have gotten a song lyric or something that was meaningful to me. As it was, I was glad I didn't end up getting it engraved because it would have been hard to sell and I'd have ended up getting a lot less for it when I did sell it. But if you don't see yourself ever needing/wanting to sell it (to upgrade, for example), maybe a song lyric or movie quote or something like that would be fun. :goodvibes

One thing that no one has mentioned - buy the wall adapter for the charger! The battery is not fantastic if you're browsing the internet; the wifi eats up a lot of battery power pretty quickly. I can't use mine for more than 2-3 hours at a time with the wifi turned on before the battery dies. If you don't have a way of charging it (ie. a usb to plug it into) then you're out of luck. With the charger adapter, you can just plug it into a standard outlet. It's $29 from Apple and well worth it, I'd say.

Thanks for the tip on the wall charger! Is it the same one you use for the regular Ipods? If it is, then I'm set. :thumbsup2

Good point on the quote. I'm not sure I'll resell it though unless they come out with a whole new model. But we'll see. I'm thinking of doing the Walt quote: "it's kind of fun to do the impossible" or "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them" or "If you can dream it, you can do it" or "When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable."

I'm trying to decide if I want to get an Ipod touch. I'm going to be having surgery soon and I can't life anything over 5-10 pounds for awhile which will limit the amount of stuff I can take with me. I was thinking about getting a touch because it's small and has internet capabilities, which means I can leave my laptop at home. Yay! If you have one, do you like it? How does the internet on it work? Do you have to be in a wi-fi hotspot or will it pick up a signal anywhere? What do you like about it? What do you dislike? Is the internet fairly decent and fast? I'm thinking of going with the 32 GB. Thanks!

Get the touch!

I just had surgery and having my touch with me saved me from hours and hours of boredom! I played games, surfed the web, looked up recipes, emailed people...too much fun when you are lying there with nothing to do. I did bring my laptop which a nurse spilled water near and ruined. I just recently lost my iPod touch for 4 days and thought I would go mad. The iCal (calendar) feature alone makes it worth it's weight in gold but the apps are awesome!

I can't believe they ruined your laptop. That's really sucky!

is there an app for alarms? I have to take medications on a schedule. The more alarms I have set, the better! :thumbsup2 I'm beginning to think that this will help me keep track of a lot of vital things...

The question still in doubt... 32 or 64? choices, choices, choices..,

iCal has an alarm feature, not sure if it makes sound though. I feel so much more organized with my family's schedule since getting the iPod.

Wow, I can't believe I am going to be the lone dissenter. Let me preface this by saying that I love my iPhone. It ranks up there with the DVR as the best electronic invention ever in my book. I seriously love it!

However, as great as it is on the go and out of the house, I much prefer my netbook at home and for extended web viewing. I like having a keyboard and the bigger screen. I don't really like the internet on the iPhone, it is just too hard to read and I am constantly resizing. The apps are great but not everything has an app. I also prefer watching movies on the larger netbook screen and the battery life is really long for that as well. In your case with being laid up by surgery, I think you will be much happier with the larger laptop. But that is just MHO!

If it's one of the earlier iPods' wall chargers, it may not be compatible with the newer iPod Touches. They changed the connector a few years ago and I had to buy new accessories (dock, wall charger) for my Touch when I got it about a year ago. My Touch would still connect to my car dock and still play through the stereo, but wouldn't charge. That was an annoying lesson to learn.

Best of luck with the surgery! Recovery's at least a little more pleasant when you have a new toy to play with. :thumbsup2

And I wasn't kidding about the addictiveness of the TSMM game...it's RIDICULOUS the amount of time I've spent flinging eggs at livestock on that silly thing!

I just bought an itouch yesterday..Not to take the thread offtopic , but I just wanted to ask if (any of you that have an itouch) have any favorite applications--im searching trhough the store, but am finding I am having better luck asking people!

Thanks everyone! I ended up getting the 64GB touch the other day. Now I'm trying to load some fun apps to it. Toy Story was the first one I got. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time popping balloons... sigh. Anyway, anyone got good apps?

Hey Puffkin, I hear what you were saying. I looked at the whole net book thing. I liked it except none of them had an optical drive, which was a big downfall for me.

Oh, go play the Hamm & Eggs section! I can't tell you how much time I spent heaving eggs at farm animals when I first bought that app. There are several Disney-related apps out there, though some of them rely on GPS to work properly so make sure you read the description of each thing before downloading it (because a lot of them have similar names and sound like they do the same things).

If you shop at all online, Amazon and ebay each have their own apps, with ebay even sending you pop-up reminders when things you've watched or bid on are getting ready to end. Best Buy and BB Reward Zone also have their own apps. IMDB is cool for referencing movie/actor info. Pizza Hut has their own app, and if you use it to order, you save 20%. There are bunches of free apps available--I think if you search "free" you can pull up a list (though you'll probably want to be more specific than that, and search "free games", for example.) There are also free trial versions of other apps and games that let you try them out before committing to them, which is nice.

Enjoy the new toy! :thumbsup2

Search by "free" or "lite"-both are free, usually limited editions of the full app. Also, if you like word games, search "word".

There are several "hidden pictures" games, like eyespy.

Search based on your interests. You can even get classic novels-I was reading Benjamin Button while waiting in the ER the other day.

www.freeappaday.com
www.appventcalendar.com

If you start here you can choose any category then when you get to the specific category page, on the left toward the bottom you can sort by price, if you choose "free" only free apps will show up.

Have fun! I think I like collecting apps more than I like playing them!

There is a great crossword puzzle app.

I wanted to come back since I had read this before but I finally bought one which I am pretty excited about.

I wanted to comment on apps :)

I LOVE the eTicket WDW app.

The ones I like are:
craigslist pro
WDW maps
bejeweled
slacker radio
wikipedia
paypal and ebay
ifitness

And, best part is that almost all of those are free ones :)
