ipod touch, worth buying from Apple for the engraving?

Oh, I just remembered that someone told me there is an app you can download for the Touch where if it is connected to a different computer than normal, you will get an email. It's a way the Touch can be tracked if it is stolen. The new "owner" will not know either. Wish I had known that BEFORE my son's got stolen.

Oooh, thanks. I'll look into that. It still plays and the glass part in front isn't cracked, just the upper 1/4 of the display is black and looks cracked inside.
It's still been playing great so a few more months with it won't hurt him.

Hey, maybe it will help you. I sure wish we'd known about it. We had the great warranty on DS', so if it got broken, he would have gotten a new one. Instead, someone else is enjoying it now.

I bought myself an engraved IPOD Touch and promptly put it into a protective case. I loved the engraving but I really can't see it now. My engraving was my email address btw.

It depends on if you are planning to get the best deal or not. If you search around CL, ebay, and stores which might have deals, you can find one for much cheaper than apple store. So the price difference won't actually be $11. Engraving wouldn't be one of my factors if I was buying it.

If you are worried about it getting lost, I guess u can put your phone number or email address on the phone screens background image

I did my DD's first two I-Pods thru Apple and had them engraved. This past Christmas she wanted the I-Pod Touch. I found a better deal for that one at Wal-Mart's online Black Friday sale. So the Touch came from Wal-mart. I saved money and got an accessory kit with it

I don't know when you have to get this by, but if you can wait since we are close to Black Friday, you may find a deal for it then..
