Ipod Touch video quality?

I am trying to decide whether to buy a pocket videocamera or just get an Ipod Touch. The Touch would be great for lots of other reasons, but I am wondering how the video quality is? Any experience?

My children all have the new itouch with video, and while it's nice and the quality seems good, I don't think you can zoom with it, which I found to be a pain.

A friend has one and showed me her video. It is about the quality of a cell phone video. As long as there is good lighting, it is fine. No, I don't think it zooms or anything, but I like that you can keep photos in there just for fun.

I am ordering an ipod touch as well.....as soon as I can determine which memory I need/want/can afford.
