The Apple Store has the 2nd Generation available today for $149. It's refurbished and comes with a one year warranty.

Yes you can. Although the 8GB model won't hold a whole bunch of them at once, you can watch them.

At present on my 8 gig Touch... I have two movies, two TV episodes, about 40 podcast episodes (audio and video), four pull pages of applications, with about a gig and a half free. Great device. Does so much, including Internet access when there's a wifi access point handy(at home or places like Starbuck's). I paid just over $200 for mine last Christmas. $150 is a great deal.

for about $100 more you get 4 x the storage space new hardware upgrades and new software upgrades ....order it from amazon and you also get Free shipping and no tax

1 year subscription to wired
$5 MP3 downloads
$3 video downloads

and it ships in 2 days

it took me a full 10 days to get my refurb from Apple it went by way of Alaska (go figure) in the mean time amazon lowered the price I got a 32 gig for $268 with all of the above and I had paid $199 from apple for the 16 gig so I shipped it back to them and bought from amazon.

I really wanted the Ipod Touch but I'm almost 100% positive my sweetie got me the Nano.

I second this opinion. It might be worth it to consider the newest model for a hundred dollars more, because it actually has a lot of better features.

However, it's important to note that the "no tax" thing doesn't apply if there is a warehouse in your state. I live in California and so there's no tax for me (because we don't have a warehouse), but some places do get charged tax. Also, it only ships in two days for free if you have Amazon Prime. If you are a regular Amazon member, free shipping is standard shipping, which is 5-14 days, and only applies if you spend $25 or more (which obviously, an iPod Touch will more than qualify). So in general, MOST places are no tax/free shipping, but just clarifying the situation. =)

Just to clarify, since I live in a state that amazon does not charge tax on purchases, here is a list of states with warehouses:

North America:
Arizona, USA: Phoenix, Goodyear
Delaware, USA: New Castle
Indiana, USA: Whitestown, Munster, and Plainfield
Kansas, USA: Coffeyville
Kentucky, USA: Campbellsville, Hebron (near CVG), Lexington, and Louisville
Nevada, USA: Fernley
New Hampshire, USA: Nashua
Pennsylvania, USA: Carlisle, Chambersburg, Hazleton, and Lewisberry
Texas, USA: Dallas/Fort Worth
Virginia, USA: Sterling

Canada
Ontario, Canada: Mississauga (a Canada Post facility)

Ok, so basically I should get DBF one with more then 8 gigs right? He basically just wants to use it for 1 or 2 movies, we have music on our phones but not movie capability. I'm sure he will add some music but I don't know how important that is to him.

Thank you OP, I was going to order this last week for DD15 and it was sold out. She will be so EXCITED!!:woohoo: SHHH!!! ITS A SURPRISE!!

No problem :thumbsup2 I was able to pick one up for DN who decided after Black Friday that she would prefer an IPOD Touch over the new Nano. This will allow her to play games wirelessly with DS who is also getting one for Christmas.

So I am totally clueless when it comes to these things, what is the difference between 2nd generation and third generation. I think saw it on here somewhere but I can't find it. TIA

New York residents pay tax on Amazon.

and they may be others without warehouses that pay tax. I was just responding to the statement that states with warehouses do, so I posted a list of those with warehouses.

I know, I just mentioned it so that any NY residents who saw your post and thought since there wasn't a warehouse in their state that they wouldn't have to pay tax, would know they actually would have to :)
