iPod stuck in customs =(

Hey... so DBF bought me an iPod nano for Christmas. It's the new Product (RED) one, so he had to order it directly from Apple. Anyway, it apparently ships from China. He ordered it two Sundays ago, and we leave to visit my famiy out of state tomorrow. It should be here, but it's stuck in customs in Florida, and has been for almost a week. I guess he's been in contact with a lady at FedEx who is doing everything she can, but it's out of her hands. He's going to try to get it shipped to my dad's if it ever gets out of customs so that maybe I'll get it by Christmas, or at least before our 9 hour driv eback home New Years Day!
Anyone ever had this happen to a package? How'd it turn out? Let me know!

Based on my experience it might be a good idea to order another one and return that one when it finally arrives. It's a good bet the next order will not get held up.

I don't think it can be returned easily because it's engraved.
Plus, we don't exactly have an extra $250 lying around to be out that much until we get the other one and could return it...

When shipping within the US, FedEx is almost always faster than the USPS. When shipping back and forth with China, save yourself the cost. Due to hold-ups, Fed-Ex isn't any faster, just more expensive.

The last few years, they've been holding stuff up all over the place. At least they have in California...we bring lots of stuff in from China, but it comes through California, not Florida. They couldn't inspect everything coming in on the boats, even if they wanted to, but they like to make a big show out of the little bit they do look at. It is a pain in the buttinski, but that's how it is now.

I got my iPod from Apple in less than 48 hours.....are you sure DH is not fibbing?

Edited to add, I just looked at my box, and it was shipped from ACI, in Tennessee.

The Red one isn't that new that it would need to come from China.

We ordered 3 of these and had them in hand in about 3 days. Got free shipping too Sorry about the hold up. That does sound odd.

This sounds way too weird, I order from apple quite frequently and I am an apple user, usually within 3 to 5 days, sometimes 2.

I would contact apple with your tracking number and see if they can do anything for you.

I ordered an ipod nano from Apple at 1 pm on Tuesday and got it at 11 am on Wednesday-22 hours later.

I've ordered 3 different ipods directly from Apple in the last month & none of them took longer than 3 days.

But the Nano & Shuffle DID come from China, while the Refurb came from Pennsylvania.

I ordered a Christmas gift for DH on 11/25 and haven't seen it yet. The seller indicated that it was stuck in customs. I don't know when I'll see it.

When you have it engraved, it does come from China. But DS's still got here quickly. Why would it get caught in customs? These things are shipped direct from the company all the time.

I agree with Cindy's mom.....sounds like he's trying to surprise you.

If the iPod is customized with engraving, then it is usually engraved and shipped from overseas. If no engraving, then it can be shipped from a warehouse in the US. Keeping talking to the FedEx people. Even though it is out of their hands, they should know when it is released from customs, and hopefully, they can redirect to where you are.

I showed boyfriend the posts where you said he was trying to trick me and he was very offended, hehe. I am not sure if he is fibbing or if it really is stuck. Oh well - I am just super excited to get it at all! I've been fixing all my song info on itunes for the past 2 weeks in anticipation!

We've had this happen recently with both an ipod and a new laptop. Both got held up this way. Luckily, they did get here within a week or so after their expected delivery date. Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

any Apple product that isn't stock in their stores has to be shipped from China. (other than memory upgrades) usually it's five days shipping and add five more days to that.

if it weren't for the engraving, you could have it the next day.
