My Itunes is set up on our laptop, but I fear the laptop will die soon. How do I transfer it to a different computer?

Also, can you have different Ipods with there own Itunes on a single computer.

I don't think you can you have different ipods on a single computer. I think your best bet is to copy your library to CD-R's for backup reasons.

I think you just set up your own libraries for different people. It's by e-mail address so we've been able to log on as different people. But, I do sync my iphone and ipod to the desktop if that is what you mean. I still have both.

But, we did have a laptop die. DH was able to save our stuff to a book I think. I haven't tried to access it, yet since I still have the same stuff on my ipod and iphone.

The easiest way to transfer your itunes to another computer:

1 - sync your ipod with your current itunes, making sure you get everything on there

2- download latest itunes to your new computer from internet

3 - hook up your ipod to new computer, but choose NO when it asks if you want to sync

4 - access your ipod through your "my computer" menu, go to properites, and enable disk use

5 - go to your new itunes and choose "import library"

6 - somewhere in there (I can't remember exactly where) you will have an option to copy imported material and choose YES

Everything on your ipod will copy to your new itunes and be saved on your new hard drive. You will lose playlists, but that's it. Don't sync your ipod on your new computer until you are SURE that you have copied everything to your hard drive, b/c syncing erases what was on there before.

You can sync up to 3 or 4 computers with one ipod. Itunes will make you identify the second computer.

If you have any problems, just google "transferring itunes" or something like that. Good luck!

You can have tons of ipods on a single computer. Each one gets a name. When you sync, you just choose which items go on that ipod. If you are doing it for your kids, just make playlists with their names on them. For shows or videos or podcasts, you select individually.

Thanks everyone--Clear as mud:goodvibes But I'm sure I'll figure it out once I actually sit down to do it:thumbsup2
