Okay, I am an EARLY Christmas shopper.My oldest son is 12-(turns 13 in early Dec) & has hit the hard- to -buy -for stage!! I was asking them today what they had in mind for this year, just to get them geared up to help me out!! And without blinking he said, An Ipod Nano-in Silver. Okay.... I am such an electronic-no-nothin'!!!! Help me out!! What should I look to spend? Are they worth it? What's the diff between this and an MP3 player?

Oh, poor moms who are challenged such as myself!!!:confused3

We just decided to do Disney in late Oct---so I want all my Christmas stuff done before we leave. October into Nov is my usual shopping time-but with the Disney planning and packing, I want to be completely done by the 15th.

My other 2 kiddos will be easy-dolls and Legos!!! I may pop back in with some American Girl questions, but wanna focus on my eldest first!!

Christmas is only 18 weeks away!!! Sounds okay, but with all this budgeting it kinda cuts it close!!:santa: What are ya'll getting hubbies this year?

YOu can get a refurbished ipod nano directly from the apple website. There is a thread in the budget board you should check out about nanos.

The iPod is an MP3 player and its made by apple. There are different ones but I think a nano is perfect for a young teen. I got my own dd one thats put away for Christmas because she likes to use my much more expensive iPod.

You could also get him an itunes card to go with the nano so that he can download new music on to it. And on the black friday sales there's usually several stores selling Ipod radio docks for around $20. We have a jensen one and we love it so much.

I've already started my shopping too. DH thinks i'm crazy - although he knew that when we got married and age doesn't mello out the crazy, it just makes it stronger. I hate crowds so much that I'd rather buy everything and ship it off before Thanksgiving.

I totally love my ipod, I too have a nano silver!!!! My husband upgraded mine for my birthday then we traded mine old one in (when it wasn't working right) and got my girls (9 and 5) one to share. We purchased ours at Best Buy, they have a 2 year warranty, that you can purchase that I highly recommend, ( i have used it twice) for about 20-30ish dollars. They also have nano in different MB, 4 or 8

4MB = 149ish
8MB = 199ish

I would love to get yet another one before our trip in October, I have our 2 loaded with tv shows and music for them to listen and watch on the planes. But like you said, we need to work on Christmas and Birthdays before that.

Good luck

Oh watch the ads, if you have time, sometime they come with Itunes cards to start purchasing music.

I have officially finished my Christmas shopping :banana: - but I have an only child. He is getting the Red Ipod Nano. I ordered through the Apple website so that I could get the free engraving (also, the red is harder to find). I have seen the other colors at Sams Club for a little cheaper than Apple.

You can get iPod through Apple with an "educational discount" and be a student. I you go to the main Apple page then go under educational It'll ask your school. Mostly colleges are listed. Choose a college near you. Apple doesn't varify that your a student. The other way to get a discount is to buy a refurb. go to the bottom left section on Apple's site. Don't buy from anyone unless its a brand name store or Apple.

DisMommy-- *TarJay* (Target ;) ) has a 4 G Nano for $149 w/ a $15 itunes gift card. That is a very good deal, I'm planning to get DS11 one as well...........just debating on the Black Friday deals............but since you wanted to be done, I would go for it.

The Hubby..........lord knows!:santa:

Thanks ya'll!! I am so technically behind the times, I didn't even know you could watch anything on the it! So, you can do movies, huh? Wow!! I am just so thankful that I can successfully email!! Ha!! I did manage to make my ticker--wonders never cease!!

I just wanted to add... I've bought 5 of the nano's this way and been thrilled with them all. I even got for for me and put "WISHES" on it. SO when I'm in a "mood" I put it on and clean... always cheers me up!

I have an Ipod Nano and have found out how to get my ds 2&4 movies on it so I will not have to take portable DVD on plane with us. I use mine almost on a daily basis and have really found a lot of neat things you can do with them that you just can't do with other MP3's
