My youngest daughter needs a new IPOD. It is the only thing is has asked for. I can get a refurbished iPod 5 at the apple store 64 G for 209.

Target also has the newest version 32G for 249. There is a cartwheel coupon for 10% off and I could use my red card for another 5% off. With discounts around 213.

I leaning towards the newest version even though it will have less memory. Do you think there will be better discounts in the next few weeks?

What are your thoughts? She doesn't have a phone but she does have an iPad mini that is why I think 32 G would be enough

I would get the new one since it will be able to be updated for longer. I bought dd a refurbished 5th generation two years ago after I washed her 3rd generation model. She handed it down to DS when she got a phone. He had it for a month and had a hardware crash. I think I'm going to get him a 6th generation for Christmas. I've been looking for deals and may go the target route. Wish you could use cartwheel for online purchases.

Make sure that it has the newest software (I think it's iOS9 now). Some of the older models (like mine) aren't upgradable past iOS5 so if you want to use updated apps or games they will not work.

The 5th generation is updateable.

I haven't seen any sales for black friday that include the IPOD. Do you think the 10% plus 5% red card discount is the best deal of the season or should I hold out

Can't you just return it if there is a better deal afterward? Holding off, in my opinion, won't really help you as anxiety and stress levels will make you agitated to make a rash buying decision. Maybe. At least for me it would.

Also, I guess my generation outgrew iPod's, so I was surprised to see this thread. iPhone's have everything we need and with apps like Spotify, there's no need to buy/download music anymore. Could be an option to just upgrade her phone if you use an Apple?

True- she's 10 and doesn't have a phone. She won't be getting a phone for at least a few years.

Same with my DS. He is 10 and has to wait until he is 12 to get a phone. So I can message him on an iPod if he is at his dad's or when he's waiting for me to pick him up from swimming (they have wifi).

I think I saw that target will have 20% off iPods on Black Friday. Walmart will have the 16 gb for $165 but that's too small IMO. Best Buy might have them $50 off. I also thought I read something about toys r us and if you are by meijers they are doing some sort of a $50 off promotion.

Target also has a Wish List app that you can use for another 10% off. I just used that, the 10% off using cartwheel and the 5% using red card.
