I can't find the thread, but there ARE issues with the OS 4 update!!

I did the update last night, and everything went fine. After I disconnected it, I played with the various apps a bit, no problems yet... so I went to bed a happy camper.

I woke up this morning and ALL of my apps were gone, except for the apps that come installed and can't be deleted!!!

Turns out I'm not the only one having this issue, and for some it's been worse, because at least I still have my emails and music. I had already removed all my photos, so I don't know if I would have lost them too or not!

I hadn't heard about the issues. I did the OS4 update on Monday and have had no problems. (I love the folders and multi-tasking options.) Was your phone backed up? If so you should have no problem restoring your apps.

I'm at work so I haven't tried this yet but from what I'm reading, when you install OS4, it wipes out your backup, so nobody has been able to go back to their previous backup. :headache:

Apparently, Apple is aware of this and so far doesn't seem to have given anyone a fix.

Let me preface this by saying, I love my Iphone and the Ipods that preceded it....

Surely the above bolded statement is not true, only Microsoft does stuff like that. :lmao:

Good luck OP, hope you get your Aps back.

It was probably my thread from yesterday. I ended up updating my iPod Touch (3rd gen) last night after all. Followed the directions carefully to make sure everything was updated first, then synced then backed up before beginning.

Everything went well, except for 1 app that I use kind of often. The app is having known issues they are working on. Wish I had checked into that before I upgraded. Hoping it will get worked out before my trip.

If not, I'll just deal with the minor annoyance of having to push a few extra buttons on the app in the meantime.

Here's my thread from yesterday. Did you follow each step from the beginning? iTunes ver 9.2?

That's gotta stink. I hate when technology doesn't work like its supposed to. Its awesome for productivity though when it does.

I wish you luck. And fingers crossed mine doesn't act up because my entire trip itinerary, all 6 hotel reservations, flights, rental car & meetings info are in my TripIt.com app. That app & 1 other is what I'm relying on the most.

Do you have Mobile Me? Or are you syncing to Google at all?

My only problem so far was the iPod crashing after downloading a podcast direct to the phone but synching it back up again through iTunes fixed it and it has been fine since. Not all apps will work until they are updated, though - I've had a few problems with some of them.
