Iphone lost or stolen today at Hollywood Studios

Not to be a negative Nelly but Iphones are a high theft item because they have a high resell value, even the older models. Hopefully, it was just lost.

I password protect mine and I have Find my Iphone on it as well. You can track, lock or erase the phone from a distance. Location services needs to be turned on though.

Maybe it's just me, but if I found someone's phone I wouldn't put it in my bag....nor would I take it home with me. I'd hand it over to the first CM I saw and let them follow their procedure for missing items. Taking it home makes no sense to me unless you intended to keep it. But I'm glad you were lucky enough to get it back!

He may have thought that a kid making minimum wage would be less likely to try to find the phone's owner. People who are going to steal a phone generally don't leave multiple messages on the owner's answering machine!

Not all people who find lost items keep them for themselves - there are still people in the world who do the right thing :) I have found multiple purses, sunglasses and even jewelry at Disney and always turned them right in to a CM.

Hope you have a good outcome OP!

I had an unmarked envelope with $220 cash in it returned once. Blew my mind! Left it on a bench in the CR, noticed it missing at the french bakery, called them from British phone booth. Once I told her how many of each bill I had, CM told me to come get it!

I hope you get it back! We were in the Emporium at MK, and laying with the hats was a large wallet/planner. I picked it up and it had a thick stack of cash inside. I couldn't imagine what the people who lost it must going through. I gave it to a CM at the cash register and he had me wait while he called someone. The man who had lost it was up at City Hall, had described it perfectly to the CM and asked that I wait for him. He came in and hugged me so tight, thanked me several times and wanted to give me money. I refused, and told him the look on his face was thanks enough. That was a really fun day! :goodvibes

Great stolen iPhone recovery story from a few years back:

Summary: Guy's iPhone was stolen at Wilderness Lodge. Used Find My iPhone to track the culprit to a ferry headed to MK. Disney Security tracked the guy down and apprehended him at the bag checkpoint. Long read but a great story.

I lost my iPhone 5s in December on a DVC bus. I realized once we got to Epcot that it was missing. I used my mom's iPhone to track my iPhone using the Find my iPhone app and couldn't pin point anything. I tried this throughout the day and suddenly it was "on" and in a wifi zone (I turn off data when traveling to avoid roaming charges). It was turned in at the Pop Century resort and I travelled to the resort that evening to collect it! I had never been so happy to see my phone! It had obviously been dropped as the lock button was very finicky and no longer worked properly but once I got home, the Apple Store replaced it for a new phone. That's definitely Disney luck and I was so happy everything worked out. :goodvibes

I hope you have similar pixie dust!

I had a heart-stopping incident at DHS last month. I was shopping and it was getting cold so I decided to try on one of the sweatshirt jackets that they were selling. I hung my bag on the rack to try it on, decided to purchase it and went on - without the bag. I then found a few more items to buy and got up to the counter to pay and realized I did not have the bag. It had everything - money, phone, rental car keys, timeshare keys, etc. I ran over to where i had hung it and it was gone. I literally ran in circles freaking out not sure what to do. I was looking all over for the bag - it was identifiable because I had made it and no one else would ever have one like it. Finally a CM saw me and said she had found it and had brought it to guest relations. I literally cried. I didnt care about the cash - I was more worried about the car keys, credit cards and my ID to get back home with. That thing was glued to me the rest of the trip.

This brings back memories of my stolen iPhone. I was in San Diego for Comic Con last year - I was an exhibitor so when I took a break and sat in the hall I accidentally left my purse while I went to the bathroom. I had forgotten that I even brought it with me. When I got out and realized that it wasn't back in the booth I panicked. I went back to where I was sitting and it was gone. There was a man with a stroller sitting there the whole time and he couldn't tell me anything about it (he probably stole it). About 15 min later my purse showed up at lost & found without my iPhone. And then a little bit later the cover to my phone showed up. I was absolutely miserable over it. It feels like a little bit of your life is ripped out of your hands without it.

Anyway, I do hope that yours turns up. And the next time I travel I will be putting the password lock on it and make sure my GPS is on!

My phone story:

I went to Typhoon Lagoon and left a gym style bag on our seats. I must have been under the influence of some Disney magic or something. it was an admittedly stupid thing to do. In my bag were around $15 cash, a $200 point and shoot camera and my beloved Android phone. Just to give some perspective, I love this phone a little more than I love my children.

Came back after playing and my bag was gone. Reported it to a CM and also requested a police response for a report. While waiting, my bag was found, dumped in a men's locker room trash can, missing my valuables.

DH tried to call the phone but it had been turned off.

My husband took it upon himself to check towel return bins and found the bag of another victim. All in all, I was made aware of five other victims, one of which was taken for a phone, car keys, passport and $600 cash, making me no longer the dumbest person in the park that day.

After a respectable period of mourning, I replaced my beloved Android and went on with my life.

About four months later, I received the following email:

Hello,

I’m trying to locate the owner of a phone that was turned into our Lost & found. The only information in the phone that I was able to locate lists a number for “Mom & Dad Parker” I attempted to call this number with no answer. If you know who the owner of this phone maybe could you please have them contact me at my office number below, or send me an e-mail. This e-mail address was also located in the phone.

Thank you for your time.

IT WAS ME!!!

I called him back. After a few questions were asked to confirm my identity, the phone was mailed back to me. The reunion was tearful and exciting, both at the same time. It lasted a week until my son dropped it and broke the screen.

I have had this app on my phone for so long but never set it up. Finally have!
Great story!

Code:
Why on earth would they turn off a phone?? What if someone tried to call it to claim it?

I found that strange also. I lost my phone in Epcot and never realized it till about 45 minutes later, got to a phone called my # and the CM working where I had lost it answered (they had turned it over to a manager) they were waiting for my call. :)

I check for my phone about every 15 minutes while out anywhere. I try not to take a bag into a park.. the best ill do is a small, hands free, over the shoulder type bag, big enough for lotion , money, and a phone.
last year I had taken my keys to DTD on our first night at WDW, long story why I had my keys while staying at POP and had taken the bus.. but I had my keys. I had taken some pictures and then left the area. I didn't think anything of it until the next morning. I jumped up and looked for my keys. what I learned is that all items lost are taken to that park's lost and found until closing. after that, it is taken to the main lost and found outside MK, which is where my keys were located. it only took a few minutes for them to find it.
with the MB, there is little reason to take any credit cards, cash, or anything of serious value to the parks (staying on property has its perks)!

Yeah, but if I stayed on property I wouldn't have any money left to carry into the parks anyway. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

We have been extremely lucky by finding our lost items until our past trip.

First trip, my fiancé left our camcorder on a chair in the lobby where he had been relaxing while I checked in. We didn't notice until we were on the bus stop waiting to go to DTD. There just happen to be a castmember walking past and noticed us frantically checking our backpacks. He casually asked us if we were ok & I explained the situation. He either called or radioed someone (sorry can't remember) and he asked us to wait for a moment. He left & returned with the camcorder! I Was in awe that not only did we get it back, but the castmember actually BROUGHT it to us! Disney's magically customer service on day one of our first trip ever, I was in love from that moment on.

Another trip my DD (11), left her iPod & a small wristlet on a lounge chair by the POP pool. We were on our way to AK for the day as we left the room she wanted to run ahead with her cousin to play a "quick" game of ping pong. We met up by the pool and headed out on the bus. Well of course she didn't realize she left it til we exited the bus and she wanted to take a pic of the entrance to the park. *Sigh* so mom runs back to the bus stop to head back to Pop to look while the rest of the family went into the park . I called Lost & Found while on the bus to see if anyone had turned it in, when they told me no I just KNEW it was gone forever. I get back to POP, walk to the pool and there it was basking in the sun in plain sight! Part of me was confused as to why no one took it & part of me was relieved to know that there are still good people in the world.

On our past trip, again my DD (she's 12 this trip) leaves her goggles by the pool on night & didn't realize til we got back to the room. She wanted to run back, but since we were staying at CB & the main pool is quite a distance from our room I wasn't too comfortable with her going alone. Plus it was late, the pool was closed, and judging by our past luck I thought the odds were good that she'd get them back in the morning. Next morning I wake her up and we go look by the pool (we were headed to the food court anyways). Didn't see them around, so we ask a lifeguard if there's a lost & found for pool items and he tells ask in the gift shop. No luck there, so we report it to lost & found. Fast forward a couple days later at the quiet pool near or village, we notice a young boy wearing my daughters goggles (they were the bigger goggles that cover your eyes & nose and I had written her initials on each side for summer camp that year). The family was Spanish speaking and at that point I had already bought my daughter another pair so I didn't think it was worth the hassle to try to explain those actually belonged to someone they were not for community use lol.

Moral of my long stories, iPods & camcorders were only lost not stolen but dollar store goggles are a hot commodity so keep an eye on em at all times!

I have a habit of keeping my phone in my front pocket, and as a result I've never lost it.

We did track it immediately but it had been turned off, but we are told CMs are instructed to turn a phone off if they find one immediately. That is kind of unfair with all of this MDE stuff you really need your phone!
When I lost mine for all of 5 min the CM didn't turn mine off. I lost mine on EE when it slipped out of my wet pocket.

We've lost phones at both DL and WDW, and got them back both times. The DL one was amazing! I think I lost it on the Autopia... Checked with Guest Services and they didn't have it. Oh, Well. Got back to the room...we were staying at the Disneyland Hotel. There was a message on the phone. Called the front desk, and they told us that Lost&Found had the phone. Went back to DL next morning, and asked.." how did you figure out where we were?" I had the standard unlock code on the phone (was a Nokia 6100 series) and they looked at my address book on the phone. They found a listing for Mom and Dad. Called my parents in Florida.. they knew where we were, and then they called the Disneyland Hotel. They confirmed that we were guests there, and left me a message! Amazing. We lost a phone at Epcot, and it was at guest services at Epcot a few hours later. They had a HUGE bin of lost phones... was pretty funny, as there were so many phones -didn't anyone think of checking Guest Services? We lost a wallet (just had pics and stuff in it) but we got it back too! I think the only thing we didn't get back was a GMRS radio, but that was no real biggie -I carry a spare, and we got them for a real good price at Costco, so we were out about $30.00. A pain, but not a major buzz-kill for the trip.

Hope you get it back!
