So I am going to take the plunge and get an iphone. Our land line service with Verizon has been shotty to say the least and out for almost 3 weeks and they want $150 to come out for a second time (they fixed it monday and it is out again today) to check internal wiring. I said no thanks. I think i will just cancel our land line.

So, I want to get an iphone, so I have a good cell phone. Right now I have a cheapo flip phone, nothing fancy, no email, minimal texting. DH has NEVER owned a cell phone- not even when i was pregnant! He hates them. However, I think I will give him my cheapy phone, so he has something, it is only $15 a month. Then get an iphone for me. I can't wait to use all the Disney apps!

So question is- I am not a cell phone expert at all- I know there are a fe different iphone models, ranging in price ($200-$300???). Which one is best for the price?? I hope to go look on saturday. My current phone plan is already with ATT.

This really depends on your individual needs. You have to decide two things ... do you want the 3G, which is less expensive or 3Gs model, which is faster?

Then you choose the amount of memory space you want on your iPhone. If you plan on downloading a LOT of music, movies and podcasts, then I would suggest getting a higher amount of memory space.

Personally, I have an 8GB model and still have plenty of storage space, but I do delete podcasts after I listen to them and only have a few movies and albums on there.

Oh ... you'll also have to choose a color.

Good luck and enjoy your iPhone!

Hey Michelle,

I have a 16g 3g model.

I find it more than sufficient for all of my needs.

Itunes allows you to sync just the things you want on your phone.

I have an 80g iPod classic that stores everything....all my music, movies, photos etc.

I do not carry all of my music or movies on my iPhone. I just make playlists and carry a few movies at a time. Every once in a while, I sync the iPhone and change playlists around, add or remove movies / tv shows etc.

You can manage what is stored on your iPhone.

You will need to decide if you want EVERYTHING with you all the time.

Also....John and I have 3g phones. I havent used the 3gs version...but I am quite pleased with the speed of the 3g.

I hope this helps.

I would say to get the 3GS model. (Ok, I don't have an iPhone so you can take that with a grain of salt). I know with a little one I would want to have the ability to take video with my phone.

I have a 16GB Touch. I have 51 songs (podcasts), 9 Videos (3 full length movies), 281 Photos and I have used 9.7 GB of my 14.5 available. I also have a couple pages of Apps.

I hope that helps a little.:goodvibes

I currently have the 16gb 3GS and I love it. In the 15 years I have been using a phone this is the first one I get excited about using - I even tried for the past 3 months not to get one and couldn't find anything even close (LG :lmao: what a joke). Now with that out of the way... the space requirements clearly depend on how diligent about you are with managing your data storage - if you find deleting a hassle and want to shell out an extra $100 then go with the 32gb. Otherwise the 16gb has been plenty.

3g vs 3gs - my friend who has a 3g really likes the 3gs and finds it works much faster. Plus some of the extras like voice and compass are worth the extra money for me.

WDW apps - don't get too excited yet. There are a few out there that I download and yes they are neat but can be hit and miss. Try out a few of the free ones before spending any money and see if they work for you.

Overall, get the iphone 16gb 3gs you won't be disappointed. :thumbsup2

PS I got the white one!

Thanks for all the great insight! (hi Kevin! :cool1:)

I think the 3Gs sounds like the way to go, might as well get the latest and greatest, right? :goodvibes then again, I am a pretty basic user, not a big texter or phone talker for that matter......but once it becomes my only phone, that might change and of course having a cool iphone, I am sure i will use it a lot more than I imagine.

I do love taking pics and video.....i don't with my current phone though, but i bet i would with my iphone. with a 2yo, i tend to overdo the pics! I do have an ipod that I store all my music on and probably won't keep a ton of music or movies on the phone. Probably some podcasts and kiddo pics/video. So I'll check into the 8GB and 16GB when I go in.

Thanks again guys, i knew just where to ask for advice! :thumbsup2
