Fort friends, which iPhone apps do you recommend for WDW? DH wants to get one, specifically one that will show wait times, character locations, etc. I don't have an iPhone (still behind the times with a Blackberry Bold 9700 - haha) so I don't really know how to shop for the apps. Any advice? TIA!

DH has Iphone. He uses this one:

But there's also this one:

I've dabbled in this one for my BB but think it's also available for Iphone:

How do those up-to-date line status things work? Are they based on reports by visitors, or some special heartbeat of the parks?

I think they are based on reports by visitors, just like Gas Buddy. So, pretty accurate depending on how many people participate. I believe it shows the times of the posts so you can pretty much tell which is the latest.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. (And howdy, neighbor! I'm a Triangle resident, too.)

We used the Lines app through the Touringplans website on my Droid when were at Disney in May. It wasn't terribly accurate because nobody was updating it when we were there. They use a combination of updates from users and predictions based on other years so without the actual users it was telling us that wait times were less than they actually were. All of the parks were a little busier than the Touringplans website said they should be. I really wanted to use the Mobile Magic app, but it's still not available for smartphones. :(

My friend is doing a solo Disney trip for a long weekend in September. The packet she received today has this link for an application to "get attraction wait times for the parks you're in with mobile Magic from Disney Parks..."
